The Greg Norman designed Earth Course is the latest offering from the Jumeirah Golf Estates and since opening for play in 2009 has quickly garnered a strong reputation as a top class championship course; a fact that is underlined by its hosting of the Dubai World Championships in its very first year. Fast forward to 2016, the stunning Earth Course still remains the host of the European Tour’s Race to Dubai and is strongly regarded as one of the most iconic courses on the European Tour schedule.
Measuring 7,706 yards from the tips, it is perhaps a good plan to leave the back tees to the tour pros and play from one of w selection of tees that make the course playable for golfers of all shapes and sizes. Fairways are generous so big hitters will enjoy giving it a rip with the driver, however, natural undulations on the course make for some tricky iron shots into huge, audaciously sloping greens. The rough and white sandy bunkers bordering the fairways and greens are fair and, if you stray even further off line, attractive redwood chippings make finding your ball easy while adding a degree of difficulty to your next shot.
The 18th hole at the Earth Course is often regarded as one of the hardest finishing holes in tournament golf, measuring over 650 yards from the back tees with a stream splitting the lingth of the fairway all the way up to the gren.
Stretching over 650 yards from the championship tees, the 18th hole is a true test of skill and strategy. The hole plays uphill from tee to green, with a meandering stream coming into play for the first, second, and often third shots.
Inspired by the natural elements of Fire, Earth, Water and Wind, and interwoven with tastefully designed homes, the four championship golf courses of Jumeirah Golf Estates are set to take their place among the world's most prestigious golfing developments.

A look back at the 2025 DP World Tour Championship
Matt Fitzpatrick won the DP World Tour Championship for the third time after defeating Rory McIlroy in a thrilling playoff at Jumeirah Golf Estates' Earth Course. After McIlroy forced the playoff with an eagle on the 18th, Fitzpatrick's par on the extra hole was enough to seal the victory.
A look back at the 2024 DP World Tour Championship
Rory McIlroy delivered a masterclass to finish the 2024 DP World Tour season, securing his third DP World Tour Championship title and sixth Race to Dubai crown. The Northern Irishman seized a three-shot advantage with four consecutive birdies from the second hole in the final round. Denmark's Rasmus Højgaard drew level at 13 under after McIlroy's mid-round slips, but crucial birdies on the 16th and 18th saw McIlroy secure a two-shot victory.
A look back at the 2023 DP World Tour Championship
Denmark's Nicolai Højgaard powered through the final round to clinch the DP World Tour Championship title. The Dane carded a spectacular final-round 64 (8-under par), finishing with a total score of -21 (267). Højgaard's victory was sealed by an incredible run on the back nine, which included five consecutive birdies from holes 13 to 17. This phenomenal finish was enough to secure a two-shot victory over a trio of top contenders: Ryder Cup teammates Tommy Fleetwood and Viktor Hovland, and overnight leader Matt Wallace, all tied at -19.
A look back at the 2022 DP World Tour Championship
Spain's Jon Rahm took home to the DP World Tour Championship title for the 2nd time. His 4-round total of -20 was enough for a 2 shot victory over Alex Noren and Tyrrell Hatton. Rahm's tournament included just 4 bogies with just 1 coming in the last 36 holes.
A look back at the 2021 DP World Tour Championship
Collin Morikawa was victorious at the the DP World Tour Championship as well as clinching the overall Race to Dubai, making history along the way by becoming the first U.S. player ever to win the tour’s season-long points title.
A look back at the 2020 DP World Tour Championship
Matt Fitzpatrick was the victor in the end of season finale in Dubai with a -15 total enough to claim the title over European Tour stalwart, Lee Westwood. The result ended with Westwood claiming the overall order of merit title, something he also managed to do in 1998, 2000, 2009, 2020.
A look back at the 2019 DP World Tour Championship
Spain's John Rahm claimed victory on The Earth Course with a closing round of 68 (-4) enough to take a 1 shot victory over Tommy Fleetwood who finished with a round of 65 in Dubai. Rahm's victory was well-deserved courtesy of stand out play throughout. His birdie on the last was enough to claim the win.
A look back at the 2018 DP World Tour Championship
The victory in 2018 for Danny Willett was an emotional one, with his first victory since earning his Green Jacket at The Masters back in 2016, it had been close to a 1,000 days that he had won on the Tour. This win didn't come easy either, having to chase off the likes of fellow Englishman Matt Wallace, Jon Rahm, and the 2018 Masters champion Patrick Reed.

The lack of buggies in the heat made it very challenges. Not sure why buggies could not have been used on the paths as other courses do as there were ample paths around the course. The greens played very slowly as they were growing them for the DP World event. It was still a great experience, however i would never recommend anyone play here in proximity to the tour event

I’ve used Paul Gartland for my golf travel advice for a few years now and every time he recommends something special and the Earth course is no exception. Earth is an incredible course, well looked after and about 35-40 minutes from the palm and Jumeriah Beach. The course was in incredible condition and with its 99 bunkers it’s a really good challenge from any tee. We played off the competitions tee which was a mixture of Greens and Blues which made the course about 6,600 yards. Highly suggest to avoid the bunkers as some faces are over 8ft which makes it super challenging to get up and down around the greens. Another note is spectators can come around the course on the buggies for a small cost of 120 dirhams.

This course is as expected a stunning course, driving range and putting greens were immaculate. Ice lollies every 4 holes fresh cold water every single hole too. You had to take a moment on every tee box just to admire what you were looking at. Earth course made our trip. Amazing

The greens were not in good condition and we followed a 2 ball on the clock as they were warned by the course Marshall. It took nearly 3 hours to complete 9 holes then the 2 ball was asked to leave. Disappointing end to the week.

There was a fair amount of work being carried out (December 8th 2024) around the course as they make improvements, however it did not take anything away from the day. It was a shotgun start on the day we played - we started on the 14th hole, many of the signature holes came early in our round - again not a problem other than having to get out to the 14th to start at 8am. Given it was a shotgun start, all players were on the practice facilities before the round, so slightly more manic that the usual practice routine.

Walked the Earth course on several occasions watching the race to Dubai, and always wanted to play it. I have to say I wasn't disappointed. This is up there with the best courses I have played. From the welcome at the reception to the golf course itself. The course was in excellent condition, with the greens being huge but fair. If your travelling to Dubai this course is a must play.

Course was in fantastic condition, especially with DP world final just a few weeks away. The stands were being erected which made the round feel a little bit more special. I was on the range and my driver head snapped in the shaft adjustment tip, the staff at the pro shop gave me a replacement driver with no questions asked or anything, couldn’t of been more helpful 😀

What a course ! 7,800 off the tips. Played a combo course of blue tips and greens. It is a big track so make sure the driver is working. Some superb holes and great going off the back tees. They were setting up for the Race to Dubai in a few weeks. No issues about playing, no restrictions as such. Stands were going up round 18. Nice staff and very welcoming.

Another current tour course, but whilst in great condition, not to the level of Yas or Majlis. Having watched on TV and seen the size of the bunkers on this course, it really does not set you up for how imposing these are in real life. The majority of them with raised backs so that you can see them all when stood on the tee. Very imposing, but I did feel it got a bit repetitive and at times you had to study the planner to work out where the fairways actually were. That said there were some beautiful holes and against any other competition this course is very highly ranked. Hole 16 was my absolute favorite, with the island green 17th being less imposing than imagined. The 18th however is well known with the stream running up the middle of the hole. So pleased to have played this hole and whilst I held off going for the green in 2, I was pleased to walk away with par. Others were less lucky with one making the water three times, including a McIlroy roll back off the green into the stream below.

Arrived to play all ,arrangements made by your golf travel ,time etc were spot on. Arrived and checked met by nice receptionist, our taxi had driven to the front door as the bag drop was not well signed. Having checked in we were left completely with no directions at all as to where to go. Going back the receptionist said she would arrange for the clubs to be picked up. After another 5 minutes we had to ask where the buggy and clubs where and directed outside of the club towards steps. On the steps no sign of a buggy but there was a line of buggies about 100 yards away and after asking more directions we were indicated our buggy was one in the far away line. No directions for range or putting green. We then found we were fixed up with a member and if we had not had him we had no idea of 1st tee etc. Once we got playing it was alright and found the course enjoyable.

Really enjoyed this course. There were 3 of us who played. We were teamed up with a member to make a 4 ball. They were helpful with tips around the course. We booked a 0810 tee but tee'd off at 0840. As the temp was 39* I would recommend as early a start as poss.
