Kilspindie Golf Club started out as Luffness Golf Club, founded in 1867, it was at the time the 35th registered golf club in the world. Some 27 years later the club was split by its members into Luffness New Golf Club, which was moved closer to the village of Gullane and Kilspindie Golf Club built on links land bordering Craigielaw Farm.
The resulting Willie Park Jnr. and Ben Sayers design is a delightful, classic links golf course that sits alongside Aberlady Bay, on the rugged coastline of the Firth of Forth.
Kilspindie Golf Club could be described as a hidden gem along the golfing paradise of the East Lothian coastline, with no less than 15 coastal courses within a 10-mile radius, including the likes of Muirfield, Royal Musselburgh and Gullane.

Power is certainly not the most important factor here, where considerable trouble can be found not far from the fairways. Kilspindie outlines its quirkiness right from the off, beginning with a tough par-3 which faces across the Forth to the Kingdom of Fife.
Arguably the best holes are those at the start of the round, with a succession of tough holes tracking the coast towards Edinburgh. Generally played into a considerable prevailing wind, these opening holes can ruin a scorecard, especially as it is not too hard to find the rocky beach.
The signature hole is the idyllic 8th, an exquisite par-3 played across Gosford Bay which demands nerves of steel and a brave heart. Kilspindie is well worth a visit for a taste of genuine Scottish links during a golf break in East Lothian.
Kilspindie Golf Club is situated just outside the village of Aberlady in East Lothian off the A198, 4 miles from Longniddry strain station.

short and easy course. The rough is light and let play very easily.

Played at the end of August in very windy conditions. The course is right on the coast of the Firth of Forth with some lovely views. We fortunately avoided the earlier rain and played with one of their two buggies. This is an 125 year old members club. The staff in the pro shop were friendly and helpful. Fortunately the rough was mostly light and finding and playing errant balls was generally Ok. We had an 11:00am tee time on a Tuesday and the course was quite quiet with the weather being poor earlier so we got round in just over 3 hours.

Full of history golf course with amazing clubhouse. The course can seem short but on a windy day the first holes are very challenging. The view is stunning as the first holes are on the coast. True link course as it’s best.

Sorry to say, but checking in at the proshop was a bland experience. No information of the course, the facilities - no nothing. Why not use the opportunity to tell about the history of the course/clubhouse, the course, how to get around, what to expect and look out for?? Hospitality in the golfing industry is non exsisting in Scotland. Again no stars for value for money as we do not know the price.

Great course despite the rain! Greens were in great nick for the time of year and overall condition was spot on. Green fee is a bit overpriced.

Kislpendie is a lovely course. Despite being short it is a test especially when the wind blows. The first 4 holes are the best (alongside the later par 3). The club house has a lovely feel and we all enjoyed the course despite probably a few too many 300 yard par 4s. Would recommend especially for those looking for a more reasonable test.

Found this course too small. Its set in a confined space, the holes are close to each other teeing areas and greens are close to each other. Its a very short course with short holes which means its very difficult to create a gap between you and the match behind.we were in a fourball with two two balls behind us which makes it feel your being pushed. Overall a nice little course but not a good experience if its busy.

waiting at the first tee I watched lots of groups tee off, thinking it was going to be slow but was surprised to find I was round in 2.45 hrs. At 5500 yds it isn't long with a few reachable par fours, there wasn't much wind but could be tricky in a stronger breeze. as it's early season the greens were slow but true.
