Royal Musselburgh Golf Club is the starting point for East Lothian's fabled stretch of top class links golf and is a renowned and venerable golfing institution. During the clubs first 150 years, golf was played over the Old Course at Musselburgh, it was not until 1924 that today's course was inaugurated.

The new layout was designed by James Braid with help from Frederick Hawtree, they inserted the 18 holes on a scenic stretch of elevated parkland overlooking the Firth of Forth near Prestonpans.

Royal Musselburgh Golf Club

The club itself is the fifth oldest in the world, and its members compete for the Old Club Cup, the most historic championship still played for today, boasting a heritage dating back to 1774.

Royal Musselburgh has one of the most unique clubhouses in Prestongrange House, a converted mansion with a Norman tower at its core.

This James Braid layout oozes history, and for enthusiasts of Royal golf, it should certainly be one that you tick off the list as part of a golf tour in Edinburgh and East Lothian.
