The two tremendous golf courses at Monifieth are in interesting blend of heathland and links. A true testament to the quality of the Medal Course is that the Royal & Ancient selected it for final qualifying for the 1999 Open Championship at nearby Carnoustie, and again played host in 2007.
Tom Watson enjoyed his first links experience at Monifieth before going on to win his first Open Championship in spectacular fashion. A mere 30 minutes from St Andrews, Monifieth is definitely worth a visit if you are looking to add to your experience of Scottish links golf. Both the Medal & Ashludie are in excellent condition all year round as well as offering equal enjoyment to members and guests alike.

The course has recent been subject to a development programme, under the stewardship of the head greenkeeper, so visitors can now expect excellent conditioning and quality greens. The neighbouring Ashludie Course may be short, but designer James Braid's subtleties mean strategy is all important to score well.
Monifieth is well worth the stop en-route North from St Andrews to Carnoustie.
Monifieth is renowned for it's strategically positioned bunkers, firm & true greens, making it an extreme test of links golf especially when the wind is gusting from the Firth of Tay. There are challenging holes, particularly the fourth in terms of length - at 456 yards, it is essential that your tee shot is down the fairway in order to avoid dropping shots.

An excellent course in fantastic condition. Keeping the ball on the straight and narrow is the name of the game. The wind plays a big part as does the railway for the first 6 holes. We received a very warm welcome and had a very enjoyable day.

Played the course in driving wind and rain. The upwind holes play very long in these conditions. It's an Open qualifying course - a satisfying challenge.

A favourite venue of ours over the past 35 years We had a great time They bunkers a bit iffy in places where they are trying new sand but they explained that and it did not detract one bit from the day Thanks Monifieth
