The great tradition of Sand Moor begins with the club's foundation in 1921, but the most notable development in its history is Dr Alister Mackenzie's involvement in revising the initial layout of the course. Mackenzie is revered by many as the finest course architect in the game's history, giving an insight into the quality of the par-71 layout at Sand Moor.
Sand Moor is among the most prestigious clubs in Yorkshire, and is a treat for any golfer visiting Leeds. The local area is rich in golfing options which can be combined to form a fantastic golf tour - Alwoodley and Moortown are among our recommended choices. Been so close to Leeds, you do have the option of a great nightlife scene, shopping and historic sites.

Well matured and extremely well established, Sand Moor is superb test of parkland golf that is used for some prestigious amateur and professional events - a young Nick Faldo is among those to win tournaments at this Leeds gem.
The course itself offers four really challenging par 3’s, all in different style, length and offers a different challenge on each tee. The longest hole at Sand Moor is the 16th Hole which is 556 yards in length with a tricky right to left sloping fairway.

A welcoming club. A beautiful well kept course with rolling hills, wide forgiving fairways and very good sand filled well kept bunkers. The greens were in good condition. Well done to the green staff who have battled against the wet weather to maintain their high standards. Quiet surroundings with negligible traffic noise. A very enjoyable round of golf.

Another lovely course. Greens, although a little slower than those of my own course, ran true, we’re very healthy and putted really well. A lot trees have been taken out, but the course looked really good.
