Hotel was a good standard and the 2 bedroom suite we booked for 4 golfers was more than big enough for our needs. Three balconies and a sun terrace area was a nice surprise. The Restaurant was good offering a variety of food throughout the day. The bar was a bit basic (for the all inclusive) unless you wanted very strong very sugary cocktails. Location is about a 10min taxi drive to Albufeira old town which suited us but probably too far to walk.

Bar shuts early, not the best of selection on the All Inclusive drinks, food was alright but again shuts snacks at 5 so missed one day as playing golf. No other lunch option for golfers, & evening shuts & nothing to eat after this if been out or feel hungry later on in the evening… Not up for scratch with other hotels I have been at. Rooms were supposed to be 2 twin rooms but was given a family room, where one bed was made up of 2 twins and a pushed up in to double bed. No tea/coffee facilities in the room, no mini bar for waters etc…

The hotel was in an accessible area to the Albufeira Old Town for good nightlife and you weren’t to far from anything like the beach etc. The staff were amazing, however the food wasn’t to good for 5 star. The standard and the vary of food could be improved. The rooms were clean and cleaned everyday, and a good balcony size.

My group had high hopes for this hotel with it being 5 star but were left a bit underwhelmed and disappointed. We arrived at about 10:30am and were told checkin was 3pm, so we couldn’t get our room but we were also told we weren’t allowed to start making use of the all inclusive services either. After asking a couple of more times before 3pm we went back at 3pm, by which time there were large queues trying to check in. We were then told there had been a delay and it would be 4pm. Hotel itself was nice and our room was lovely, but we lost power for several hours on our second day and had to shower in the dark. Not really offered an explanation what had happened or how long it would take to fix. Our room also wasn’t cleaned nor towels changed. Food was fine but again not quite what we expected at 5 star. Only one restaurant and bar and we found the all inclusive drinks pretty limited. We have stayed at another Nau hotel (4 stars) that had a full cocktail menu in all inclusive - this hotel had 3 or 4 mocktails that they could add alcohol too. All inclusive drinks stopped at 11pm. All in all, it wasn’t an unpleasant stay but it was absolutely not a 5 star experience - closer to 3.5.

in my eyes? That is not a five star hotel? It’s borderline 4 possibly 3,when you got gaps around the air-conditioning unit where it fit to the wall and wallpaper coming off the wall you can see that there’s water got behind The food in the restaurant was okay. I can’t fault the staff at all. They were brilliant. Most of the facilities were closed due to the season, there is no entertainment just a bar and it’s location of the hotel not walkable distance to the town.

Never a 5* hotel. The most underwhelming dining experience most of our group have ever had. Bland food, understaffed and overly full with guests at dinner time - which was more akin to a cattle drive than a 5* all inclusive restaurant experience. Staff were dismissive and unwelcoming, and getting a drinks order in the restaurant was always a challenge (especially at dinner time). The food that was put out was generally bland and of a poor quality, and needed replenishing far more often than happened. While there was the odd dish that was tasty, these were very much the exception not the rule. Breakfast was particularly disappointing. Poor selection, fruit not fresh, and the cooked elements were disgusting (bacon, sausages, eggs). There was a decent breads selection, and the pastel de nata / pastries were also perfectly fine. Extremely disappointed with the dining experience at NAU Sao Rafael Suites. The accommodation was tired and basic, again not in any universe would this class as 5*! Housekeeping was poor. Towels and toiletries replaced sporadically, but usually not at all. Several times our group had to go direct to reception for essential items such as towels, shower gel, toilet rolls. Bar service was fine, although very busy and the small bar did struggle to cope at times given the amount of guests. However, bar staff were friendly and attentive. The same cannot be said for restaurant staff, and some reception staff. Many appeared surprised that guests were asking for help or enquiring about things - generally very poor service. Our check in was delayed by an hour (we arrived on site at midday, and did not check into our rooms until 5pm. We were not the only guests who had to suffer this). The hotel felt very understaffed in general, with empty glasses scattered about the place at all times of day (by the pool, on the bar, around the tables outside). Some of our group made use of the spa facilities and the indoor pool, which was generally pleasant and a good experience. Overall this hotel fell well short of our expectations for a 5* hotel. If this was advertised as a 2* or 3*, we may have just about agreed in terms of the service received and overall experience. However, for a 5*, this place is an absolute rip off. We would not recommend anyone to stay here.

The hotel was perfect for what we needed, a few lads on a golf trip, the only problem was the fee to use the pool, we could only have used the facilities if we had an earlier tee time really. There was always something to eat when we got back from our round as well. We also were allowed to take a few snacks from breakfast for a mid round snack.

The hotel has no entertainment at all even though it advertises it for evenings. There is one bar where there is a singer but you have to pay in here. We had a day when it was raining and I rung your golf travel to ask if we could change days I was told you would ask customer service to look into it and get back to me. No one got back to me to let me know either way which was disappointing. So we could only play 9 holes due to the adverse weather. A call would have been a courteous thing to do I also had to chase up the correct paperwork on a few occasions. We are thinking of booking for next year but have an outstanding query from my Lady captains trio that I would like sorting first please

The rooms we had were very spacious and well laid out. Just a couple of minor faults with some doors in my half of the suite not closing properly. Overall though, very nice. We even had a total of three showers in our suite and three TV's (which could do with a little more instruction to get some English speaking channels...if there were any?) Lots or wardrobe space as well. The rooms are the best part about the hotel. We had a lot of trouble locating our room at the basement of the hotel back right area (Room 0201). There was no signage to say where to go. Also there was a lot of rainwater coming in under one of the corridor exit doors to the pool, which made for a very slippery floor. The hotel isn't really near anything and you'll need to take a cab everywhere. It's even quite a way away from its golf courses. The food was acceptable but like many hotels, often it is never kept hot enough. The hotel was kept very clean. The bar was probably the worst bit, with the Superbock served up frothy, in half pint (if that) glasses. Plus there were often long queues to get served and this was technically, out of season time. Having one bar person on in the evening is not on, for them, or us. Also the all inclusive bar finishes at 11pm. You are charged for a drink after that! There is no entertainment there, so if you want some you'll need to leave the hotel. The staff were polite and courteous. We didn't have time or the weather to use the outdoor pools. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice enough place but absolutely not the 5 star rating it is touted to be in the guides.

The staff were very helpful polite. The rooms were clean and generally well maintained ( No plug in the wash basin despite telling reception and wardrobe doors rather stiff were a couple of minor quibbles) The food was very good and there was a decent selection every day with plenty there. The drink was available until 11-00 pm with a generally good choice( Wine choice was limited to House red,white or rose) The transfers to the various courses were on time and efficient. The 45 minute trip to the first two courses meant a couple of early starts but that was no great hardship.

The hotel was ok, food was perfectly edible but nothing to write home about. It was disappointing to arrive early i.e. 11.30 am in the hotel only to be told the all-inclusive does start to 3 o’clock. Just didn’t feel right to be honest, it was as if to say you’re here now but your holiday doesn’t start till 3 o’clock. I have done a number of all-inclusive and it was unusual to me for there to be lots of things to purchase as add on, it’s as if they don’t charge enough up front. Overall a really good experience. Friendly staff on transfers and always on time, hotel overall was well run and clean. Nice pool and spa area. You can also walk to a really nice beach. The bar staff didn't seem very friendly. They looked slightly grumpy and unhappy with their work. Restaurant crew and reception were very nice though. We were disappointed that the restrictions on the al la carte Italian was not made clear on booking or clear in the T & C's. For anyone travelling you can only eat in this restaurant if you stay for longer than 5 nights. So its excluded from the "All Inclusive" for most. On Tuesday they had 3 bookings all night but still would not allow us to eat in the Italian restaurant. Also food is only included at set times and no snacks (crisps/nuts etc.) are available behind the bar with your drink which was a bit disappointing.

Upon arrival it was disappointing to find that the family room that we were told had separate access and egress for each room was not the case as one couple had to access the entrance/exit via the other couples room which lacked a lot of privacy.We tried to resolve via YGT but to no avail and the cost of changing would be excessive so this proved very embarrassing to say the least.The airport transfer on the last day was a shambles despite my checking the day before that all was ok the transfer failed to turn up and when I challenged why I was told by ATS that the driver had gone to the wrong hotel which I find hard to believe. The staff were wonderful in arranging a taxi for a dash to the airport as we almost missed our flight,luckily we just made it ! everything else at the hotel was fine and the staff were friendly and helpful. Another point I would like to make is that we were promised 24 complimentary balls as part of the booking ...these never arrived despite my chasing up with YGT prior to going on holiday and have still not arrived to date!!

Everything about the hotel and golf courses were good, apart from us being forced to have unacceptably early pick up times for our rounds at Morgado and Alamos. We'd booked tee times at 11.33am and 12.04pm so that we wouldn't have to get up too early. We'd expected pick up times to be no earlier than approx' 10 and 10.30, but we had to be ready for 8.20 and 8.30 !! I spoke to reception to try to move the pick up times back a bit but had absolutely zero help from the man behind the desk. He seemed to enjoy the power that he had in dictating when we had to be picked up. He even tried to insinuate that we had been late for our pick up from the golf club on the Wednesday. We hadn't been !! It seemed that the early pick ups were a bit of a punishment to us. We've been on many golf tours and never had anything like this trouble with pick ups. I spoke to someone at YGT on the Wednesday evening to try to resolve this. Although this person was polite and understanding, they didn't do anything that resolved things, as the hotel wouldn't budge on the Wednesday pick up time and gave us an even worse time on the Thursday ! This was our first booking with YGT and it has obviously left a sour taste. Can you let me know what YGT thoughts are on the problems we had please ?

Everyone at reception was brilliant as always, but in the bar and restaurant we were always treated second class to both Portuguese and families. Stayed in family room, two rooms connected, one room bath with shower over, other with just a shower, with everything needed. Beds comfortable, nice balcony and rooms cleaned every day. Had a couple exterior swimming pools, looked nice but didn't use stuck a foot in very cold, but was end of March. Had what looked like a very nice indoor pool but again didn't use. Had two main bars one with "entertainment" on, karaoke and something called beatbox, the other just a bar. What struck me was how echoey they were, didn't need too many people in and you could hardly hear each other, You could only order two drinks at a time, so eight of us, four people at the bar or one person four times. Beer was ok but shorts were terrible, we went to shop and bought proper spirits. Restaurant buffet can honestly say worst food I've ever had in a hotel, some things were ok, but in general terrible, and you had to put everything in microwave as it was always cold, EVEN breakfast where even a bad hotel can normally knock up a half decent breakfast. All I can say about staff is chambermaids we're great. All in all wouldn't go back.

The hotel was in general really good, all areas were very clean and we had our room cleaned daily with fresh towels, there was plenty of bottles of water left around for guest to pick up which was handy. All the bars were excellent, good selection of drinks and good quality, make sure you try the cocktails. The only slight issue we had, which we feel was probably down to the hotel not being full with guest was the 3 meals through the day, the food choice was good and the quality of the food was acceptable, however, because the food wasn't being eaten due to not being busy, some of the hot food was getting cold quickly as not being turned around, but I think this issue will go once the hotel is back to being full.

Fantastic hotel, I booked it for my 50th along with 11 others, transfers to & from the hotel to the golf courses we played were superb always on time never late. If you wanted anything just ask a member of staff at the front desk and they would sort it no problem. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Been here four times now for a golf weekend - it's ideal. Close to Salgados golf course, walking distance from a lovely beach, pools are blue rather than brown (as in some of the other hotels) and the rooms are lovely. Will keep coming back!

The hotel was in a nice location and the staff were pleasant, The main thing is to let the hotel down where the food was not up to standard pretty much the same every day and only ever lukewarm. The Wi-Fi was not good at all and as for the showers in the room these were ridiculously small you could hardly move in them. Staff were fine but we got into a bit of an argument about shuttles (don't think this was a staff issue but higher up but swiftly sorted out by Your Golf Travel for which we were very grateful. They would not change the time of our shuffle when we managed to book a second round. This second round could only be booked at the course so no way to give more than about 8 hours notice but didn't really know what their problem was. Got one of our tee times wrong and a bit slow to back down as we had a voucher from them with the correct time on it! Could be a bit noisy with inconsiderate golfing parties. Is there really a need to shout at the top of your voice to someone 3ft away?

Warm welcome on arrival and room ready well before the agreed availability. However we were on the groundd floor in room015 which was next to the Kiddies day care centre so very noisy throughout the day. We were also disappointed with hour long it took us to transfer to the golf each day, espacecially Morgado and Alamos. The coach came to us first and dropped us off last so we often were out of the hotel for 9 hours to complete one round of golf. We got so frustrated we organized private transfers for the last few days. Local beaches were nice

I had visited this complex when just built as I was staying in the area and it hasn't went downhill since opening The adjoining rooms are a bit tedious as anyone who goes to bed last needs to go through the Bedroom of the ones who went before and seeing as its a free bar until 12 it can be a bit late until everyone in bed I would have preferred individual suites as the hotel wasn't very busy on arrival but certainly was on leaving Pools were too cold to try and you had to buy a hair cap to use the indoor pool ( opens after 10.00 am ) Food was excellent but the cocktails on offer came from a drinks machine and were a pale imitation of the real deal

This is a great hotel with all anyone would need at your disposal The food is totally fantastic, for breakfast you would find it hard to think of anything they have not got all displayed in a perfect condition - all the foods were just perfect and met with everyones tastes first class. The drink selection was also good and as a all inclusive money is something you really did not need at the hotel. Very good certainly worth another visit.

The hotel was very good, rooms plenty big enough with sensational soft beds and pillows. food good if not repetitive and bar area not very big but drinks selection very very good.

Our stay this year was excellent. The weather was perfect, hotel brilliant, selection of food was as always first class. Golf at Salgados and Morgado courses was most enjoyable. The only small complaint was the long wait at Faro airport for the transfer to the hotel on the 18th September. At least half an hour before the driver turned up, and that was after I phoned the office to find out what had happened to our driver.

Hi Ian Our stay at Sao Rafael suites was a most enjoyable experience.From our arrival to our departure the staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was fantastic and available throughout the day and evening.The rooms were roomy and comfortable.

All three courses were excellent. Salgados was by far the best but very hard for a high handicapper! If you cannot hit straight, you may find it frustrating. Hotel is lovely (if a bit soulless) and too remote, but well organised for golf.

No particularly sparkling holes. Hotel was only OK, even though it was all inclusive. The Hotel did not know what bain-maries were for. The hot food was always left on bain-maries which were not switched on. I complained numerous times but no one listened.

The first 2 holes on Los Alamos were excellent with plenty bunkers to play out of. The last 2 on the Morgados were excellent and had a very difficult par three followed by a long par 5 with lots of bunkers to contend with.

Salgados is the best of the 3 courses and near the hotel. Lots of water so need lots of golf balls!
