Located just 15 minutes from Agadir, Tazegzout Golf Club, not to be confused with the area of Taghazout Bay itself, takes pride of place on a dramatic patch of land that sits high above the Atlantic Ocean and offers golfers breaking views from start to finish.
Designed by Kyle Phillips, the par 72, 6,730 metre layout at Tazegzout golf course spreads across 76 hectares of land and is perched 80m above sea level, with each hole enjoying breathtaking views of the ocean. The course meanders through the natural Argan vegetation, rising to a crescendo on the final 3 holes, which are played over two deep rocky ravines and finally along the 80m cliff edge. The finishing holes at Tazegzout Golf are a spectacular test and will provide endless stories to retell on the terrace of the magnificent clubhouse.
An indication of the quality on offer here comes in the form of its designer. Tazegzout Golf opened for play in 2014 and before that, Phillips had completed work on the likes of The Grove, host of the 2006 WGC American Express Championship won by Tiger Woods, and Kingsbarns which is widely considered to be one of the best links courses in Scotland, not to mention many, many others.
Early holes take you inland up uphill, with fairways that cut their way through the rugged desert mountain landscape and between giant bunkers that are definitely best avoided. Eventually, the course turns towards the coast and comes to a crescendo over the final 3 holes which are among the most exciting in all of Morocco.
It’s a tough call due to the fact that there are so many standout options, but we’d argue the Signature Hole comes at the par 3 17th, where the tee shot is played over a rocky chasm to a dramatic green that seems perched on the edge of the world. This do or die hole is as tricky as it is beautiful, with the Atlantic just a few hundred meters to the left providing the perfect backdrop. The par 5 18th hole isn’t too shabby either, taking you all the way back along the coast to the clubhouse which, yes you guessed it, boasts spectacular ocean views.
Rated as the 7th best golf course in Morocco, Tazegzout is a must for anyone looking to embark on an Agadir Golf Holiday.

Course looked a bit scruffy in places and the fairways were full of sand

We travelled about 40 mins from Agadir to this course. A nice course with a couple of challenging holes over ravine. The round was quite slow and one of our group were hassled by a group of ladies behind them.

Loved this course, we played the yellow 9 first which was challenging but great fun. The red 9 which followed was VERY SLOW but more in line with the norm. The owner of this course met us and really cared.

We chose to play off the yellow tees which made the course quite tough. Next time off the blue tees. Very interesting and fun golf course

Great hill side course with a mixture of elevated tees and fairways - no hole is the same with a stunning par 3 17th

Didn’t have any buggies available for the first nine holes which was hard work but managed to get one for the back nine which just about managed to get around the course as it looked pretty dated Great course with fabulous views and challenging holes

Great course fantastic location and great views. 5 hour round but with buggy not a problem. Lots of areas close to fairways need tidying up. Overall great course.

Played this course twice not an easy course especially off the fairways the margins of this course are rocky and barren to say the least stray at your peril

The club were extremely welcoming. Course condition is superb but quite difficult. Golf staff could not have been more helpful.

Proper links course, if it’s windy you’re in trouble especially on the back 9😳 The guy that runs this one is also overseeing the Dunes course and wow he knows how to present a golf course. Excellent

The course was fine although if you went 2 foot off the fairway you are in rocky terrain and during our round it was extremely windy and was virtually impossible to play, very demoralising for all players and was not an enjoyable experience, the second round was better due to the lack of wind although same experience I would rate this the 3/4 of the courses played
Michael

Play in the morning when the wind is low, afterwards is very hard as links layout becomes very difficult.

Unfortunately this was our first round of the holiday and at one point we didnt think we were actually going to get on the course. The booking in took an hour and was quite shambolic albeit the poor lady behind the counter stayed calm through a quite chaotic situation. There were no buggies or even trollies and nobody seemed to know what was going on. Thankfully we just managed to force our way onto the tee at our correct tee time and somehow got 2 trollies (needed 4) but the stress incurred was less than ideal. The course itself was fairly good although the greens were like lightning even after a fair bit of rain. A mega slow 5 and a half hour + round tested us to the limit. The clubhouse was very nice but they certainly like to overcharge for a beer!

A difficult but fair challenge which is best played twice as first time round is more difficult. One falls in love with the course on the second round.

Course in great condition, with fantastic views. Links-like with a lot of bunkers and super quick sloping greens. BUT, take plenty of balls and try not to get too frustrated, as the ball will run off fairways into trouble, and there are often hazards that are not visible when playing your shots. Caddy master paired us up to make a 4-ball at an earlier tee-time, which put us following a 3 and ahead of 2 twos, and then complained on the course that we were not keeping up with the group ahead ! We did. It is a long walk, but you need to book ahead of time if you want a buggy or an electric trolley.

Unfortunately they do not have any marshals on the course to check speed of play so can take 5-6 hours to complete round.

This is not a golf course, it is a joke, you hit the ball right it could end up totally left, to many blind shots.

Loved this course but it is brutal, miss a fairway and you're out of the hole because of the rocks and hard ground. Some stunning views make this a must to play

toughest one of the 4, more links like up on the hills above Agadir, lot of bunkers , very sloping fairways but like carpet, greens disappointing compared with the rest of the course but great test, again needs playing more than once

Greens were borderline unplayable. We were paired up with another couple, who also found them ridiculous (so it wasn’t just our putting). Stunning location and course, facilities were great too - but really was a shame about those greens.

The best course of the three we played but still was average and had the same issues of the pro shop not being open in advance of our allocated tee times and lack of marshalling.

Stunning course and beautiful setting overlooking the ocean. Some huge carries - from the yellow and white tees and plenty of challenges, particularly on the back 9. Our favourite course and we'd like to return to explore Tazegzout and possibly stay there.

Played late(ish) in the year and conscious of probable on-course works starting soon, but greens were poor with significant damage on a few. With three nine hole courses available, directional signage was very poor. But what a setting and with a little more application from the greenkeeping team, this could be a belter of a venue to play.

Interesting course. Layout had a lot of scrub areas, barracks, and runoff areas. Made it hard playing the course for the first time. Lovely coastal setting.

Good layout but you needed to be long even off the yellow tees. Also, you must keep it on the fairway. If you went off onto the rocks, you would find it very difficult to find your ball.

A stunning course! With the most incredible views culminating in an extremely tricky last 3 holes over ravines! An extraordinary course …. We had 2 buggies as it is a long pull between tee and green and gets very hot towards midday. Rocky desert on either side of the fairways and the surf of the Atlantic rolling away to one side. I think this course is tricky for high handicaps and a challenge for even the most experienced golfer but it’s not always about the golf ( and losing balls!) and the beers at the end of the round are extremely welcome!
David
✓11 Oct 2021
Not a course for an average golfer, rocky off every fairway with steep ravines to cross in places. Maximum advised handicap 10 unless you take plenty of balls and want to play a 7000 yard course.
Nick
✓1 Feb 2020
We checked in and offered the chance to start well before our allotted time,1020 hrs, which we accepted and got round in 4hrs 10 mins as a four ball. The fairways simply drifted into scrubland, rocks and gravel so straight hitting essential but the fairways were generous enough. In places there were longish walks between greens and tees, particularly the 17th which demands a bridge as it holds up play. The Clubhouse is a bit start but welcoming and the views out to seas are special and makes it as many holes have seas views. It gives the impression of being relatively new but actually is around 20 years hold which suggest the courses maintenance hasn't been that good.
