The Island Golf Club
The land has dictated the layout of the course, with the rugged sandhills forming the backdrop for most of the holes. As you may imagine, length is not the most important factor at the Island, as golfers must negotiate skillfully through the great humps and hollows.
It is possible to be aggressive, as Darren Clarke showed on his way to a course record round of 63 in the 1999 Smurfit Irish PGA Championship, but if you stray off line, the deep rough that covers the dunes is extremely punishing.
With views back across the estuary to the quaint village of Malahide, this rugged links is truly beautiful, and is marked indelibly as a favourite by all those who visit, especially connoisseurs of links golf.

Sensational Irish Links of the highest quality. Amazing layout with stunning views and a truly tough links test. The welcome was warm, the pints were cold and the golf was brilliant. It's not a cheap round but it's a great round.

total pleasure. has to be one of the most beautiful natural layouts on the world. course was interesting, fun, and hard. it rained the entire time we were out there but the course handled the water - no issues, no puddling. greens were in fantastic shape. had an absolute blast

We didn't see anything because of much fog. When we finished our round the clubhouse was closed with all of our luggage and clothes locked inside and all staff gone. Thankfully someone came and opened but we were disappointed with the service because they had promised us food and drinks after the round but they left us.
