Good course for the money.

The course was interesting and in good condition. There are several holes where strategy and course management was more important than distance. A really enjoyable course to play - And bring your credit card as the golf shop is huge!! You will definitely buy something and the prices were not a rip off.

Hard walking even with buggies. Buggy path most of the way around and some very steep banks to negotiate on foot!

Fun course, with risk/reward tee shots.

Superb course, one of my favourites.

Great course, club house and shop. Play was very slow due to a 4 ball ahead and Marshall’s were all over it but the group just didn’t seem to care. Can’t do much about that but Marshall’s did try their best and luckily they were only doing 9 holes. Other than this I would play this course every time I visit, food is decently priced (for a golf course) the shop is brilliant, carts were clean and screen was useful, honestly no complaints for the place itself. Every member of staff was amazing and super helpful

Enjoyable course to play set in the hills with some beautiful and tricky holes. The speed of play was good.

Our favourite course of the 3. Marshalls on site to keep everyone moving. Very good condition and lots of working being done on course. Good variety of holes. Look foward to playing again.

A wonderful starting course for our trip. Glorious views and picturesque holes.

We had slow play from a group in front of us. Meant the round took nearly 5 hours but what a course, every tee box, fairway and greens were in top nick. Drive past the halfway house 4 times so ideal to get drinks and food! Shot an 82 so I loved the course

Great club. More of a modern feel to it and one of the largest golf shops I’ve ever seen. Course was maintained really well and the greens were all really good. Since the last time visited the practice facilities have dropped off as they have removed the track man screens on the range and the driving range area feels a little bit tired especially at the covered range.

What a great course, honestly I could not fault a single thing (except maybe my golf). A slope of 136 tells you everything you need to know. Like most courses keep it on the fareway and it's playable, go even slightly off line and you be eat up your handicap shots quicker than you realise. If you're thinking of buying new gear before you go, wait and purchase it at the on-site shop, it was massive, the biggest I have ever seen and the prices were very reasonable boarding on cheap.

The course was beautiful and in immaculate condition. The wind was up so it made the round tougher but it was still playable and enjoyable for mid handicap golfers. The club house was fantastic as well.

Very hot day, slow round and were waiting on the last half dozen holes for groups in front. The course is very large and spread our but in general good condition. Saying that, would play again.

Very nice course. The set up of the course, club house, shop etc is very well thought out and is a fabulous golf club. I would defiantly recommend anyone to play this course.

Great course

First course we played. We arrived early for a coffee and to get our bearings. the pro shop is bigger than any shop in the UK and has the most choice I have ever seen. From clothing, clubs, accesories, shoes..... WOW. Clubhouse was really welcoming and all of the staff were so friendly. The course did not disappoint. A number of blind holes so for playing for the first time it was hard to know where to land your ball (so take a few extra) but my wife and I loved it. Make sure you get a buggy. Long walk :). I will most certainly play here again. No negatives about this club or course whatsoever. I loved it.

Always love calanova but has the 18th changed... Yardage was all over the place on our watches

Probably our favourite course of the 3 we played. Some cracking views.

First of all if you need any golf shoes or any clothing this is the place to go, there is a shoe shop and clothing shop upstairs and downstairs the size of Asda , and much cheaper prices than back in England . And a really enjoyable round of golf. Staff are very friendly and helpful

Amazing views and picturesque holes all over this course. We really enjoyed our round. The greens were very hard to read and particularly sandy when we played (early June) so be prepared for some 3-puts! The F&B hut was cleverly positioned so that you pass it 3 or 4 times to stock up on refreshments! Incredible golf shop in the clubhouse, the biggest I’ve ever seen! Lovely bar to enjoy a cold drink after your round.

The reason for the low rating is that the club had started their maintenance work, so all of the greens were hollow tined and covered in sand. The tee boxes were also in a very poor condition. We were told on arrival that a lot of the courses main season ends at the end of May and the 1st week of June is used for planned maintenance. This was not made clear to us on booking the course.

This course was not as good as the others, but still a very nice course to play, it's a pity the wind was a bit strong on some holes.

Again arrived in the nick of time so unsettling start. Played with a couple of regulars who gave us great course information. Lots of harsh hazards so left plenty of balls behind! Beautiful setting and buggy paths. No time to dine after. Left my sand iron somewhere on the course ☹️

This course was quite difficult due to the undulation of the fairways and the strong winds. It was very easy to lose you ball on this course even with a tee shot straight down the middle. Nevertheless, a good course to play, if you're up for a challenge.

The course was in great condition, however as it rained that day, we couldn’t tell how fast the greens were, albeit to say, they were still fast in the rain. If you like clothes and shoe shopping for golf attire, then this is the place for you. I have never seen a golf shop this big before, split over two floors. Price wise very good value for money.

Great course for all. More open than Chaparral, Tee boxes weren’t in the best condition but only a minor bit of feedback. Overall fantastic round for all golfers

Nice course a bit more laid back than another course we played. Very hilly and long but still a lovely course very much enjoyed playing it.

We played on return to airport with 4h40 allocated by yourgolftravel. We had to drive off after 15th as it was so slow and we would have been late for transfer. Plenty other better choices, one to avoid! We spoke to other golfers who had the same experience

Driving range was shut for maintenance. Wasn't very impressed with the course design half the holes were out of the world amazing, half were very weak almost crowbarred in. Wasn't in the condition it usually would be due to the unseasonal rain (nobody's fault).

Bad weather the weeks before no one faults

The course was wet in places. The layout and views you get across the course are superb.

Unfortunately due to recent rain buggies we’re not allowed on fairway so quite a bit of walking. Fairways were saturated and difficult to play off. Facilities were good, greens were very fast but true. Play was very slow and we just made our pick up after golf.

Course is in great condtion considering the rain. Alot of building work going on around but didnt spoil the experience .

Unbelievable views. Cracking track that requires to be played a couple of times as there are a number of blind shots. Fantastic club house and apparently the largest golf shop in Europe Play was slow due to a lot of high handicappers out on the day but we loved the course.

First class course. Very testing. Greens really fast. Facilities were excellent. Round took 5 1/2 hours but course was busy.

One of the best courses we played overall. Greens were the best we played in the week. On arrival, the driving range and putting green is close to the club house. Hole are a mix or easy to tough but it was fair in all. Two of our lads left rangefinders and after a few emails; the club were very helpful in returning these.

This course was very friendly, a good starter course for the holiday, bunkers were very bad as they use small stones which damaged one of my friends clubs, the pace of play was very slow 6 hour round

Calanova Golf Club An exciting and enjoyable course with plenty of challenges to keep you engaged. The layout was varied and interesting throughout, but it’s clear the designer may have overlooked the 18th hole—it didn’t quite live up to the standard of the rest of the course. That said, it’s definitely worth playing, especially with the help of a golf buggy to navigate the hilly terrain.

The pick up time was terrible to early was always at golf courses two hours before tee off tines. The golf courses where all very good

This was the best course that we played (we played el chapparel and Cabopino as well). An industrial size golf store there. The course was in great condition and scenery views were incredible.

Pace of play quite slow, course in fantastic condition with difficult greens, your course difficulty question is difficult as it wasn’t a hard course but it is more than an average course with regards to difficulty, somewhere in between.

Another fantastic course, lots of dog legs which gave a great challenge, greens were in mint condition, highly recommend the course

For a mid-high handicapper the course is tight with lightning quick greens, but that’s soon forgotten about with the incredible views and beautiful weather!

A good course, pro shop is massive and has loads of offers. GPS buggies were a bonus. Quite hilly and most holes either up or down hill. A few blind holes and a couple that cross over so be aware of balls hitting the wrong fairway.

Lovely course with great facilities although green staff were rude and and wondered on to the green as we were teeing off then gave us a mouthful when we asked him to move ,they also carried on mowing the grass and generally making a racket when we were on the tee or taking a shot no thought of etiquette, if i had to complaint it would be that the bus could do with coming about 6.30 to allow the players in and get a drink,overall we had a fantastic time and will be doing it again,but maybe try a different place,not because we were not happy but just try a different country

I’d play this course again happily but the facilities were tired and it had the feel of a supermarket rather than a club. It was evident they were in the process of refurbishing the club house. The course itself was pretty impressive although there were quite a few areas where things were dumped or poorly maintained so it took away the feel of quality. And unfortunately there was a lot of development surrounding the course.

Loved this course and set up plus big bonus was the fantastic golf superstore.

This is probably my favourite course I’ve played since we started up our annual weekend golf breaks abroad. The setting is stuffing, the course is challenging but actually fair for those even with slightly higher handicaps. The halfway hut is accessible at least 4 times if you have a thirsty / hungry group and the staff are always exceptional in all departments.

Probably the best course we played and everyone wants this on the list for next year.

They were ready for us when the 16 of us arrived. The course was in great condition and well looked after.

A really good test but not for those that have not played it at least once before. We luckily were joined by two others who had and got a few tips on lines,dangers etc. This is a course I would highly recommend to the lower handicap players with some long par 4 holes.

Really well presented course, short but lots of features and elevation changes. Tonnes of trees and tight holes but glad we played. Went through 4 groups as full of really slow playing groups but did it in spot on 3hours sodoesnt take up all day.. had huge "sport direct" style golf and sports shops within the clubhouse so if u need gear this is a real positive and really adds to the experience, although we didn't need anything and it was a little weird walking through a huge shop to get to the 1st tee... really nice course, just not for me.. but don't let that put you off as we all like different courses and this one is picture postcard and you will enjoy..

What a hidden gem. Played most golf courses in that area. Some how never played that. I’m 3.9 handicap. I found it a great challenge. Located up in the hills. The 2 story golf shop attached to the club is the most unreal massive shop you will ever go in. Never seen anything like it. This course will be 1st on list next year. Amazing. Also the food hut was in such a prime spot that you past it 4 times during the round. Very cleverly thought out.

Amazing facilities, everything you need in one place (shop was massive...). course probably a bit more difficult for higher handicaps compared to Lauro. Last hole was a bit weird, has this been remodelled, most of the group didn't like and were disappointed...but overall I (personally) loved it.

Apart from the 18th hole, which was a bit scruffy a very good course.

Great course. Same problem with the buggy scenario though. Was told we’d booked a 4 ball and a 2 ball and had to play with two other players. I disagreed and explained this was not how I booked with YGT and they told me nothing could be done. They also only offered us 3 buggies because of this. I requested we pay for an extra buggy and play as two balls and was told this wasn’t possible. It took me to personally speak to the starter and pay an extra charge for an additional buggy to play in the way we’d booked. Not very impressed as overall the trip cost us an additional 85 euro from what we expected. But the cheek of saying no additional buggies or changes could be made and soon as we offered to pay extra there somehow become availability

Couldn't fault the golf course absolutely fantastic,only downside for us 8 of us played on this day and 2 drinks and lunch cost us 250 euros,very expensive our Chinese restaurant meal that night for 9 people was 60 euros cheaper!you have been warned.

The clubhouse is amazing! with friendly staff. the course has spectacular views from tee to green and plays very well other than the minimal sand in the bunkers. The 18th hole is a bit of a disappointment with a scabby fairway and watch readings that were incorrect, A nice pint after looking down the course soon made us forget about the 18th.

The course is tight and we played in high winds. This has a really good shop on two floors.

Saturday play was almost 6 hours. So so slow. Sunday was 4 hours 20 minutes. Greens very difficult.

We always enjoy visitng Calanova. The facilities are excellent and the shop MASSIVE!! The course has plenty of green staff and always in good condition. Plenty of interesting holes to make you think about your position off the tee. Our round very a little slow due to the group in front and took a little under five hours. The only disappointment was the last hole which they have made into a temporary par3. Last year it was an impressive par5 but we were told it is going to be a par4 once the work is completed. We will see what it is like next year when we visit! Finally an extra shout out for the bar staff who supplied us with gratis tapas and potato chips as we sipped our well earned beers!

Very welcoming staff both at buggy station and pro shop. The shop incidentally is enormous with all the top brands of clubs and clothing. Well worth a visit just for that. Club fire was 20 euros. Just as well since the club hire shop at Malaga airport was closed on Sunday morning when I arrived. BTW.. Best to get train from Malaga airport to Fuengirola as quick and super cheap. Taxis in town are inexpensive compared to car rental. The course was well maintained with many holes that made you pause on the tee to figure out the best strategy rather than hit just long and straight with a driver. Only 8 members apparently at the club with evidence of money not being a concern when it comes to maintenance. Very well watered during the 30 degree heat which kept the condition soft and lush. Not much run on the ball but not an issue for big hitters. Greens held the lofty balls up well. The 18th had a temporary par 3 as the fairway was being reworked. I would play there again.

A very nice experience all-round. From check in to playing, followed by after round snacks and drinks. The staff were excellent all though the facility. The Course itself is very tight but having played it before , made things a bit easier. We were lucky that we had a 25 minutes break in front of us ( we caught them up after 12 holes) , which obviously helped us move along a bit quicker.

Enjoyed course but disappointed 18th hole reduced to small par three. Great clothes shopping experience.

Wonderful course with stunning holes set against a valley/mountain back drop and sea views. This course is a must play. We’ll be playing this again for sure.

Out of the three this time me was the least enjoyable you deffo need a course planner as there were some holes impossible to know where your going. The most amazing pro shop though

Amazing experience. The course is fantastic and a real challenge for a high handicapper. The hired clubs were a bit of a mis-match of makes and quality but it didn't spoil what is a fantastic course. The buggies have GPS screens and tell you how to navigate the course safely. A fantastic halfway house ; great clubhouse (stay for something to eat after your round) and the best stocked club shop at great prices I've ever seen. Highly recommend you play this course.

Calanova is undoubtedly a nice course but not as good as other nearby courses, such as Chaparral. There are certainly some great holes and I enjoyed the course but it just lacked that little bit extra to make it a great course. However, it does have a driving range and putting green, and also a huge pro shop. The major downside was that one member of our group did have their wallet stolen from the bag during the round. We had been warned about thiefs before play at Chaparral but not here. Obviously, that event did somewhat taint the experience. But I would still recommend.

Great course and surprisingly quick game given it was packed. Lovely views I'd have no hesitation in recommending it, and indeed I'd play it again.

Another excellent choice. Most approachable and friendly staff, and what an excellent shop. We all bought Calanova logo-ed shirts, such was the enjoyable day. Brilliant views from the bar. My own personal favourite. A good challenge.

No starter, information about the course sketchy. One of the buggies ran out of battery in the middle of the 10th fairway. Had to wait for assistance and let 12 players through so one groups timing was perfect and the other ended up taking nearly 5 hours

it was ok

Calanova is very scenic and has lots of interesting shaped holes. The greens were mixed in terms of speed and some of the areas off the fairways were too soft meaning large divots were had. Largest golf shop around on site if you are short of gear. Bar area good.

We all love this Course, and actually want to play it twice during our trip next year! The work that has gone on since we last played (3 years ago due to change of area and COVID delay) is incredible and they have even built a massive new shop in the basement!) The course, as always, was in very good condition, the staff fantastic and as friendly as ever. If you're wondering why I've not given 5 stars, it's purely because I NEVER give ANYTHING 5 stars. Complacency leads to slips in standards.

Beautifully manicured and maintained course - I’ve never seen so many green staff! The holes are deceptive and trickier than they look. Not many bunkers and a little bit of water to add interest. The greens had just been hollow times and this made them slow and bumpy. We played this course in April a few years ago and they were very good then. We had a couple of slow fourballs in front of us that kept us waiting on a number of shots. Pro shop is huge and well stocked. Bar area is nice with great views over the course. But why can’t any of the courses know how to make a decent orange juice and lemonade?!

Really enjoyed the course, good mix of holes. Overall in good condition.

Excellent course. However the restriction on using the fairways with the buggy, was poor as the course was dry and left us doing a considerable amount of walking. So very tiring and meant that you weren’t able to select the right clubs to play the shot.

They had hollowtined the greens which made them bumpy and uneven. This was really disappointing as it was June and the course was fully booked. Poor greens spoilt an otherwise lovely course.

this course was a delight to play , tricky but fair with nicely defined holes . The on and off course experience was excellent with good food and prices on offer in the club house. The Pro shop was enormous with great prices and choice. Would definitely play here again.

Again fantastic facilities looked after from booking in till leaving great snack and drink hut that you go past 3times on your round. Would happily go back to this course.

Lovely course, we had Buggy's which is necessary as not just the heat but the distance between holes on a very hilly course is huge. One disappointment is that the Buggy's are programmed to cut out, and this happens when you are even on the correct part of the fairway. You then have to push them backwards until they re-start. Apart from that though the course was excellent. This was our third time playing here so that says it all.

Good course and great facilities with good mix of wide and narrow fairways. Layout of the course a little confusing but enjoyable nonetheless.

If you are hitting the ball well, this is a great course, but there are a few places where you are hitting without knowing where you're going. The club house and the 2 proshops are amazing, so immense and great prices in the proshop at the moment

Excellent club house and facilities were brilliant beautiful course immaculately kept very hilly with some really hard holes to figure out brilliant golf

Lovely course, with great views but long distance between some holes and had to be careful following signposts as not very logical layout, but enjoyable course none the less.

Having played the course 5 years ago .The course. Club house the buggy were excellent. It has totally transformed from then we will be back next year

Good course for the money and very good for high handicappers.

Played this course for the second time this year and in my opinion its great. Out of the four courses we played this year this one was in the best condition. Few tight driving holes to pick your way around. All our group loved it again.

We played this course as a 9 hole warm up twilight round on our first day, lovely course in a great location, lots of elevated Tees, greens were in good condition, this is no pushover but very playable with some interesting holes. Clubhouse atmosphere was lively with much drinking and singing, wish we'd chosen this as one of our main comp 18 hole rounds.

Greens were terrible.
