Measuring a formidable 7150 yards from the championship tees, the par-72 Akenza layout is an exhilarating test designed to challenge every aspect of your game. The course architect has woven the very soul of the desert into the fabric of the game. You’ll find tees nestled in Sahara-like sands and fairways guarded by natural dry riverbeds that change with the seasons ensuring no two rounds are ever quite the same.
The defining feature is the unforgettable sequence of eight holes that demand a carry over yawning, rugged canyons. This isn't just target golf it's adventure golf where strategy is everything. Multiple routes to the green offer a constant risk-reward dilemma making a round here a thrilling mental contest as much as a physical one. Akenza is a course that commands respect a place where bogeys tell stories and where every beautifully struck shot feels like a victory against the elements.

This was the best course we played. Beautiful and the greens were in superb condition.Shame no bar in place yet but manager explained very new course (sept 2025) and no alcohol licence yet. Staff went beyond there remit as colleague misplaced his phone and they eventually found it the following day.

Akenza Golf Course has great potential and will likely be amazing in three to four years once it’s had time to mature. It’s still very new, and that definitely shows. There were no bins anywhere on the course, they had no drinks buggy and the clubhouse does not sell alcohol. The round was extremely slow, over 5 hours 15 mins. The greens were in good condition, but they clearly need more water as everything just bounces off. Overall, I would go back—but probably not for another two to three years, once the course has had time to settle and improve.

New course, only open for 4 months. Not yet ready for parties of golfers. Not included on satellite systems yet and caddy with no great knowledge. We arrived for our tee time to discover that they had inserted two 4-balls on our time which meant we started 30 mins late and we're held up all the way round. Not enjoyable and surprised that YourGolfTravel would include this course at this early stage.

New course with possibly best fastest greens you will play Some fantastic holes that you have to plot round bunkers and ravines Made harder with no gps at all but caddies are worth it Would definitely recommend this especially when clubhouse opens next week Staff very helpful A great challenge all round

this was by far and away the most disappointing of the three courses we played. Everything felt temporary ... oh nad it took us 6 hours to get round! we arrived to find a Movenpic Golf day and people running around all over the place. There were no distances markers on the T's, no Satellite yardages on any of our apps, poor signage or bit of paper showing where to go. And at the end of a gruelling 6 hour round, no food or drink available! A massive shame as the course itself (apart from the first 4 holes which were poorly laid out) could be very good. We all said in 5 years time it will be but at the moment, its a work in progress and it felt as if it had over extended itself.

For a course that was only opened 2months ago this course was a treat. The front nine is more difficult than the back, but both are in excellent condition. Club house hasn’t got it liqueur licence yet and food was limited. But it will be 5 star all round in the near future. No 2 on our list.

This course has only been open a month or so. It was very quiet, so we were able to play at a decent pace. The club facilities are not fully up and running, for instance there is no bar or restaurant. But completion is due soon, and it will be very nice. There are good practice areas though. The fairways are excellent, but there is a lot of trouble if you stray. This is because between the fairways there is mostly desert, wadis (dry creeks, streams), or building sites. There is a lot of planting going on, palms, grasses etc so once the villas are built and the vegetation gets established it will be a super course. The greens are fabulous, probably because when we played they were quite virgin. One thing to note is that at the time of writing (Oct 2025) the course did not appear on our golf watches/apps. Also there are no distance markers on the course, making club selection a wee bit tricky! The manager was very nice, and pro active in asking for feedback.

Golf course was excellent but no facilities available. No chairs to sit on in changing room. No food available. No restaurant open. Only water coffee and fizzy drinks available caned drinks available. No glasses to put drinks in. Golf course only opened a month ago and has zero facilities available at present. It would have been reasonable for you to inform us there were no facilities open as we had 11.00 t time and finished at 15.30 with no food available. If we had been informed we could have taken food with us. Also had to phone your office from Golf course as they wanted 800 dirhams for two buggies that I had already paid for through you. Something went wrong somewhere? Overall the trip was excellent and transfers arrived on time. Excellent hotel and facilities.

New course only open 3 weeks. Driver couldn't find the course as the sat nav address took us round in circles. Finally arrived and other golfers who had tee times arrived late (lost) so things backed up and made play slow. Course was difficult to navigate as signage was poor with no hole numbers on tee boxes. Course was in excellent condition both tee boxes, fairways and greens. Enjoyed playing the course but needs improvement on signage. Highlighted this to the management.

Incredibly beautiful course, wasn’t even open yet, and we had the privilege to play it. We were the only players on the course. The facilities will match the course in due time - when open this course will be up there with the best.

No clubhouse—just a shell of a building. Course wasn’t open on arrival; staff were unaware of our booking. No access to toilets, breakfast, or coffee before tee-off. No hole index or scorecards. Despite this, the course itself was beautiful and enjoyable to play.
