Atalaya Golf & Country Club

Golf can be played at Atalaya Golf & Country Club, renowned for its two exceptional golf courses: the Old Course and the New Course. Established in 1968, the club is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the region, offering a unique golfing experience amidst stunning natural surroundings largely free from housing developments.

The Old Course, designed by renowned architect Bernhard von Limburger, features wide fairways that gently undulate among mature trees and vibrant flora. It presents a classic layout that challenges golfers of all skill levels while providing breathtaking views of La Concha mountain and the Mediterranean Sea. The course is celebrated not only for its beauty but also for its strategic design, which rewards accuracy and thoughtful shot selection.

In contrast, the New Course, opened in 1990 and designed by Paul Krings, offers a different yet equally engaging challenge. Situated in the hills above the Old Course, it emphasizes precision over distance, with many holes featuring elevation changes and sloped greens. This course also showcases panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and Gibraltar, making it a picturesque setting for a round of golf.

Large hotel with spacious rooms perfect for when you luggage and also golf bags. Hotel is in prime location for golf courses but a 20/25 minute taxi drive away for nightlife.

There was a distinct shortage of staff in the barand social area. The staff on Reception were brilliant throughout our stay. The roo.s were very clean & spacious. The resort was a little remote with a poor standard of beach. It will be fantastic when the eight brand new Padelcourts open. The food at breakfast and evening meals were very good. The worse thing was having to queue at the bar for up to 15 mins every time we wanted to purchase drinks!

The staff were very pleasant and friendly and the rooms very spacious and comfortable. We thought the hotel was geared up for families with young children, they were running around everywhere screaming, even in the dining room and bars. The food wasn’t hot enough for our liking, we were up early for breakfast due to playing golf, there were no hot plates available, so by the time you had put your food on them and sat down it was cold. This was the same for evening meals too.

Staff and food very good. Bedroom was totally inadequate with no drawers for clothing and only 1 shelf. Complained at reception and someone came to look but said all rooms were the same! We knew this was not true as we stayed here 2023 and also the rooms of rest of party had drawers and/or shelves. Lived out of suitcase, room 1225. What used to be double wardrobe with shelves and drawers on right hand side had partly been sealed off with huge unmoveable mirror where these had been. Reception staff ok but restaurant and bar staff excellent.

Hotel was fine. Just very much out of the way of everywhere! Next to no bars or restaurants local to it which was very disappointing as our YGT agents moved our hotel halfway through our booking. The transport company were useless! Made us late for our golf everyday!!! Being half board helped a lot though.

This hotel is not 100% All inclusive. Only one restaurant was open the others were closed therefore it was very busy and noisy. There was only 1 bar area which was also very noisy. The food was excellent with many choices. Rooms were very good with plenty of space and an excellent bathroom. The entertainment was very poor every night. The company Costasol was very good and always on time for the pick ups. Brilliant service.

Very good facilities as above. Highly competent staff. Especially helpful when the golf booking arrangements needed clarification and golf clubs not provided as per arrangements made by YGT. Clubs for Hire kiosk permanantly closed at Malage Airport, thus we were not able to collect them. By phonecall from hotel contact made with CfH, and YGT too. Clubs delivered. Also bookings with courses were not correct, Old and New course times were crossed.

The description of the hotel facilities are not as advertised. There is no indoor pool, and currently no gym. The room did not offer tea/coffee making facilities, we needed to pay to have a kettle. The hot food, whilst adequate, was not varied, most times we ate from the cold counter. A lot of the hotel was closed, as were many of the facilities. The hotel was approximately 3kms from the golf course which meant the cost of a taxi to and from the course. Not a 4 star hotel service.

the hotel is a brand new build,so there are a few issues which after a few seasons i hope would be sorted " only one person serving in each of the bars" Slow and having to queue. Prices for drink and snacks reasonable, plenty of entertainment through out the day and night of a good standard, rooms of a good size and cleaned everyday, but a bit sparse on storage , three pools and plenty of loungers.Food issues on breakfast always cold , eggs bacon ,porridge ,but a wide selection on offer for the evening meal.
