Old Course Vilamoura

Unbelievable experience, you feel like a professional when you play this course, so welcoming from start to finish, you cannot fault this golf course, we actually changed course to play this again why we was staying out there, you will not be disappointed!

The course was excellent and very well kept. Over the years I have played many courses but this was one of the best.

Wow - this was by far our best experience at any golf course anywhere we have ever played. All the small details really add to the experience. Superb course by far our favourite. It’s an absolute must do on all our future visits.

Much improved since last time I played it . Staff were very on the ball even to extent of collecting clubs from the car and returning them

Had paid for 18 holes, but informed could only play 9 at our tee time. This was the fault of Your Golf Travel who did nothing to sort out. And had overcharged us for both Golf and Buggies. Facilities are fantastic, but greens had been treated prior to our round and weren’t great. Which is a shame as historically this has been our favourite golf course in the Algarve.

Brilliant, from arrival to departure everything was laid out for us, we even got free golf balls for practice, and a golf bag tag with our names printed on. That was a lovely surprise.

What an improvement the changes have made since we last played the course. We were welcomed from the off the facilities were terrific and the freebies included were a nice touch.

Very good course in very good condition

Fabulous experience. Staff friendly and courteous. Couldn’t do enough for us. Nice restaurant and relaxing bar area. Course amazing. Challenging but not too difficult and pace of play was good. Greens and fairways were brilliant. Tees a little carved up. Would recommend even though it’s a bit pricey we felt it’s worth it.

A harder course than Millennium, the service at this course is above and beyond , upon arrival you’re looked after and the staff are so nice and helpful, nervous first tee with a photographer and starter but what a course 😍 absolutely lovely the old course, add this to your trip if in Vilamoura you won’t regret it 😎⛳️🏌🏻‍♂️

My favourite place in the world. Scoreable off the tips if your play well off the tee. Beautiful surroundings, Service and staff absolute premium. Shame to hear the prices are going up 40%

A good test for our range of handicaps, but fair. In my opinion this was the best golf experience I have had in 30 years of golf. Service was five star. Clubhouse , practice facility, restaurant and the course exceeded all our expectations. Will include this on any future golf breaks in the Algarve.

The best course on trip. I’ve played this course 7/8 times and this was the best experience. The upgrades made to the clubhouse and the new cart paths and tidying of the trees has made a great golf course even better. Staff were fantastic, driving range with track man 2nd to none. Course condition 10/10. Golf buggies with menus for food and drink was class and the food that came out was amazing. Nothing to fault

best course of the holiday, oozes class from the second you arrive at the course, they take the clubs from the vehicle and put them on the buggy for you. This year we also received a gold coloured metal medal with your name engraved on the back, pure class

Probably our favourite course. It's in our top three with Quinta South and San Lorenzo. It's the right blend of challenging with strategically placed trees and bunkers. Loved it.

The greens were ridiculously quick.

Spectacular set up with free range with trackman facilities, complementary badge for your bag & free coffee at the start all help with positive "feel good" factor. Trees, but not as many as Millenium, quite hilly - definitely need a buggy.

This is one of my favourite courses in the world and it didn't disappoint this time around. Everything (tee boxes, fairways, greens) in perfect condition, friendly welcome, superb food and some good golf played too ! By far the best course in the area, I love it here.

A must play golf course, facilities have been upgraded and it is first class. Lovely touch of a personalised golf tag for your bag before teeing off. The course was immaculate and the attention from staff taking bags etc was exceptional. The course was in fantastic condition. Loved every minute wished we could have gone round again.

Great venue, with lots of recent changes since April 2024. Buggies good and clean with GPS. Staff very helpful and seemed pleased to put themselves out to help. Highly recommended.

This is the best condition course of all of the dom Pedro courses. The staff was extremely friendly and we enjoyed the round.

Old course was really impressive, knew it was well rated but not played a course with facilities like it before. Would play again next time.

One of the best courses I have ever played on, definitely recommend this coarse.

Virtually flawless. You can see the money they have put into the course. From the upgraded cart paths, to the trackman facilities on the driving ranges. Greens as pure as I’ve ever played and service was exceptional. A class act from start to finish.

Very welcoming from the minute we arrived. Clubhouse, pro-shop and dining facilities all spot on. Good driving range, will balls included. The course in good condition, our group all agreed that we would definitely be happy to return.

Top quality all the way round. First time playing this course. The full experience was top drawer.

Played off the back tees as it's not that long. Great track in excellent condition.

Immaculate condition great range of par 3s 4s and 5 on a lot of holes tree lined down fairways . Greens very good although difficult but not over fast .We had a great day . Downside price of buggies 58 euros which is high when you are paying £30 extra to play course .

Clubhouse under repair so there were facilities laid on in tents etc that were very good . Beautiful course , world class , greens a little bumpy

Experienced this course for the first time and very enjoyable with a range of different holes. A pity the clubhouse was being refurbished.

I love this course, they are currently redoing the clubhouse, they have replaced all the paths, and have cleared out a lot of the dead areas.i think this will be a great course next year when all ghe works have been complete, and believe that the fees will go up. The greens were running ok but you can see a lot of repairs. The course is definitely worth a visit and an easy course to walk which would make it more enjoyable. The putting area was temporarily closed when we were there.

We all liked the Old course a great course greens had been treated so not quite at there best. Facilities closed as building in progress

Starting at 3.10 we just made it round before last light, but it was rushed at the end. The clubhouse was being refurbished, but they had a well thought out temporary set up for toilets, bar facilities etc.

the course has had allot work they have thinned the waste areas so play was a little bit easier. Club house was is being renovated so they have put in temporary facilities which were ok

Clubhouse is undergoing improvements and some of the greens were a bit patchy but overall very enjoyable,staff were great too

Was told the course was in bad condition this turned out to be not the case the course was in great condition 1/2 greens still had some work to be done but nothing we could moan about the refund of the buggies and free range balls more than compensated the noise of some construction work got to play this course again

Staff couldn't of been any friendlier or helpful. We received a £200 credit due to some work being done on the greens, there was only one green that was a little bit patchy (hence the four stars), they didn't really need to issue the credit.

Course is undergoing refurbishment which we were not made aware of - green in poor condition, no practice putting green, temporary club house in a portacabin

Clubhouse was going through refurbishment, greens were not great but were given a discount on buggies, staff were very helpful, overall experience was very good.

DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE UNTIL AT LEAST 2025!!! Very disappointed with this course. The clubhouse was being heavily renovated so it s building site - a hut outside doubles as the reception and shop. The greenkeeper got something horribley wrong with the greens and ruined them for this year. They were re-turfed in some places and very bumpy and sandy. 16 of the 18 pins were at the front to try and keep golfers away from the damaged area. The staff were good - very apologetic for the mess - half price buggies and a free drink. A bit naughty of YourGolfTarvel not informing me as this has been the case for the last month - I would have moved courses.

This golf course was superb, they had a problem with the greens as they were in the middle of fixing them, We were greeted with a voucher for a food and drinks voucher for every player due to the greens and I thought this was more than fair Once finished we were greeted back at the tee with a cold towel, I must say out of all the Don Pedro courses this was the best. Stunning golf course!

Although the greens were poor due to some burning and work being done on the clubhouse the staff could not do enough to make the day as enjoyable as they could and gave several refunds and free drinks.

Greens are currently going through a hard time and made putting very difficult. In fairness to the club we were given a discount voucher, complimentary practice balls and a free drink. Played the course many times in the past and I’m confident it will get back to the condition it was previously. Clubhouse is also being renovated with temporary facilities set up.

Lovely course and well managed in that good gaps between tee offs. Clubhouse getting an upgrade so in temporary clubhouse but all staff couldn’t have been more helpful. They explained why and gave a voucher as way of apology. Green on some homes were patchy and getting repairs done but never affected putting

The reason for the slightly low scores was because the clubhouse was being renovated and parts of the course also, this meant we could not enjoy the flagship course like we would have liked. Staff were brilliant though and did everything they could. It was just a shame we did not know about it before we got to the course.

I played the Old Course twice. Fabulous. Greens small. Course conditions fine apart from many of the greens were indeed poor. I enjoyed this course so much if I return to the region I'd be happy to play it every day. Marshalls and starters had no problem with me wearing golf sandals.

In its day you can see how nice it would have been but the clubhouse was shut for renovations and there was a lot of tree felling and construction going on around the course. They had made a good effort with the temporary facilities and staff were very good, however, I think if we’d been aware we might have chosen another course to play on this trip.

Even though the club house was closed the staff made this a great experience and a wonderful day. It would be nice to have shade to park buggies in by the tee boxes.

We originally booked Monte Rei but were told late on that it was not available due to maintenance. On discussing with YGT we agreed to substitute with VdL Old Course. Unbeknown to us, there was no clubhouse as it was being renovated so no lunch available before our journey to the airport. There was no TV therefore to watch the England match and there were a few greens and fairways under repair/looking very sad. In this condition we felt this was mis-sold to us as it was an expensive round . Finally and this has happened with YGT on a couple of trips now but the bus on the final day, despite us telling them and YGT in advance that we would have ALL our bags as going to the airport after golf, they turned up with cars which were not able to cope with all our luggage. Fortunately we were able to squash things in to the passengers areas so nothing was left behind but it is not what I needed as organiser on the final morning.

Well looked after, good staff.

now to our final game on this holiday, I was so looking forward to playing the famous Old Course, unfortunately the course was undergoing major refurb on a few of the holes, bulldozers and heavy machinery, cutting down huge trees and branches, very noisy and not the ideal finish to my holiday I was hoping for, the clubhouse for a relax and a drink was closed as well, this was actually my favourite course despite all the hassle, took over 5 and a half hours to play we were teamed up with an American couple who were great company

Great course and overall a great experience.

Lots of maintenance going on so we felt we were not getting our value for money. They have kept the disruption to the course as low as possible but there were a lot of diggers and noise at certain times. Still a great course and it will be better once the maintenance is finished.

We wanted to play a top class course so paid £50 extra to play this one. We weren't told that there was a lot of work going on around the course, tree felling and pruning, stump grinding, all buggy paths being renewed, reshaping the course. There were lots of trucks and machinery being driven around creating a lot of noise and dust. Overall very disapointed.We feel that we were ripped off, but when they finish the work it will be a great course to play.

Staff especially the starter and marshalling are excellent.

This was our favourite course for many reasons. The quality of service was exceptional especially the little extra’s like free water on the buggy, tea and coffee at the first tee. The staff were also extremely professional and super friendly. There are a lot of cracking holes and lovely views. Will definitely include this course on our next trip.

A must for your golf tour. They are doing loads of work on new paths etc so a bit noisy, especially on the back 9

The Old Course never disappoints. A superb layout in great condition. Obvious that a lot of investment is going into it upgrading cart paths. Highly recommended.

Superb... a fantastic welcome we were met on arrival, our bags were taken to the 1st tee, complimentary balls for the range and drinks on the 1st tee. The course has some great holes, tree lined with some undulations. They have been and continuing to do a lot of work on the cart paths, but it didn't detract from a fantastic day. So the Old Course and Millennium are the two courses we would definitely play again.

Ourfavourite course. Wonderful condition. Very attractive appearance. Hired clubs were decent. Staff were extremely friendly and efficient. Lovely food on the veranda after our round.

We had the most perfect day. Staff were brilliant, along with the facilities and the condition of the course. A complimentary pyramid of balls was a welcome addition, and a photographer if you wanted some shots of your team on the day . Obviously ongoing path maintenance was being carried out, but this was being managed well, and didn't affect us too much .

The Old Course is really top notch and highly recommended - the reception staff are very helpful and if you have a pre booked buggy they have your tee off time displayed and water and ice box provided FOC. The putting green will frighten you and the course greens are just as fast and in excellent condition - this is a must play course for the fairly experienced golfer but for beginners having a laugh with the boys it’s not appropriate. It’s up there in the top 10 Algarve courses along San lorenzo and the Quinta courses. Do it 👍🏌🏿‍♂️🏌🏿‍♂️

Great golf course and set up. Range balls were complimentary, which was expected. Unfortunately the greens were cored however the course itself was in great condition and a really amazing golf course. We all loved it. Service was excellent too.

Such an inviting course, those cork trees take no prisoners when a ball goes off line into their canopies. The greens were amazing on the day, the only negative is the buggy tracks, they have been deteriorating for several years and are in real need of maintenance.

Loved this course very mature and a great challenge off a lot of the tees, we had heavy rain the night before and we were astounded by how dry the entire course was. Would 100% recommend to anyone wanting to play golf on Vilamoura!

Great course. Slow play held up by poor quality golfers on the course. Greens were well used due to the volume of players throughout the course. We played mid afternoon. Need to sort out the GPS on the buggies as this resulted in significant delays.

One of the prettiest golf courses I’ve ever played! Probably the best mix of holes in the group although a few blind tee shots means you can run through fairways without knowing so consider getting a stroke saver/course guide before playing.

Exceptional day's golf, loved this course, old traditional feel to both facilities & the course, a real test of golf, tree-lined through-out, great mix of holes. Will play this course on all future trips to the Algarve.

Lovely course in excellent condition, my one gripe would be the marshall who told us to speed up and then watched us on the next couple of holes when we were only slightly behind the game in front having looked for a couple of balls on one hole - very off putting and unnecessary

Played this at the twilight rate so slightly cheaper, but would still be excellent value for money paying the full rate. First time here and just have to say what a course. Tree lined yet off line shots aren't completely punished. Challenging yet playable and in excellent condition. The old school club house gives you some Carribean vibes but what a course. A must visit if you're in the area.

Great course, greens could be faster, otherwise it was a pleasure to return since my last visit.

The course and facilities are very good. The issue that we had is that the time that the shuttle had been booked to take us back to the hotel from the course was way too early. The driver had already been and gone by the time that we got off the course, so we had to arrange for 2 Ubers to take us back.

The worst thing about this course was the state of the cart tracks. Money definitely needs to be spent on this course and the cart tracks on the other courses we played. The course itself was in good condition

Some tricky short and testing long holes. Greens were true and fast. A gem of a course and the pace of play was pretty good.

Superb greens but so fast when compared to current UK experience … is 4.5 hours slow or average? Either way the sun was shining, the course was fab as was its location and layout so who cares 😁

Late tee off because too many people stuff not very helpful played it many times before always been a favorite. They need to spend some money on it and not Try not to get too many groups on. We waited on some holes for 15 minutes nightmare

An old classic. Still a must do when you are in the Algarve

YGT booked us on the wrong day for the 3rd day running. Again the pre paid buggies not booked and we paid twice.

What is usually our favourite course in the area was let down by an incredibly slow round. The course was packed. We tend to walk the Old Course as it is a course to be savoured at first hand, rather than just drive up in a buggy and hit the ball. The course itself was good and great to play. The only negative is some holes are affected by trees which have matured and cut across the course. This is exemplified by the 13th hole which has been put out of shape by trees blocking the tee shot and also the approach.

One of the best condition golf courses I've ever played. 0 handicapper. The fairways were absolutely mint, ball was teed up. Not the golf course for you if you like to open up your shoulders, very tight tree lined. Facilities are awesome.

Ben, we were not aware it was a twilight round. No transfer available back to the hotel, which meant we paid for a cab.

This course was amazing to play on, a few places looked a little dated and needed repair/refresh but the holes are really well designed. Pace of play was a little slow but didn’t deter from a great round and a premium course. Would recommend this being on anyones list to play.

Another challenging course. We were behind a 4 ball who played very slowly. No Marshall about to speed things up.

This and the Victoria are overall the best of the 5 Dom Pedro courses, and this is reflected in the green fees. Starts with a shortish downhill par 4. Probably best not to get the driver out until the next hole though. If you're on a package try to include this or the Victoria - if you can only do one, toss a coin.

Really enjoyed the Old course, one I would recommend to all visiting. One of the most prestigious in the area.

This is a classic Algarve course tree lined tough greens a real test not for 20+ handicappers

We arrived in plenty time for a 918 tee off but were told our tee time was 12.50. Paper work stated 918 but were told they couldn't do anything to help us. they then wanted 55 euros per buggy which i asked for some sort of discount for the inconvenience. After a while we were charged 38 euros but later found out this was twighlight prices and not really a discount. After having to hang about for 21/2 hours and having to change our nightime arrangements we played our golf

Greens slower than previous times I have played. Paths from tees need TLC. Still the best D P course in my opinion.

The Old Course is an enjoyable layout and nice holiday golf course but you can see it's overplayed and under invested. It could be a really good golf experience but fails to deliver a top experience.

It's a narrow track to keep your drives straight otherwise you'll be practicing you're punch shots from under those trees!

One of my favourite courses on the Algarve

Advised YGT that transfer would pick our group up at 07.40 driver did not arrive until 08.40! Tee time was a twilight tee time so both 4 balls unable to finish their respective rounds .YGT advised that it would not be dark till 8pm but this information was incorrect as it took nearly 5.45 to complete 16 holes

The old course is a great golf course but needs some investment now,paths need replacing and greens were slow in poor condition,tee areas were poor,such a shame as it used to be on top of the list.

Beautiful setting lots of very strategically placed trees so you have to be mindful where you play up to as they can block your route. Great test of golf in very good condition. Grass needs getting used to, especially chipping lots of very closely mown areas. Greens very true. Enjoyed it immensely

Tees are starting to look a bit tired and worn but course is fantastic.

Because we didn’t tee off till 2 45 When we got in there wasn’t any food available The return mini bus wasn’t available after 8 00 Last group got in at730 So Had to pay a taxi for return trip

Best of the 3 courses we played, in terms of presentation and condition. Course itself is fair, but with plenty of hard holes. Overall very enjoyable, and a course I would definitely recommend.

Course was ideal for holiday golf, very hard to lose a ball but bad shots got punished due to tree lines.

Nice traditional course. Felt like a municipal course. Cool trees, we asked for a bottle of water and were told the cart service would sell us some. However there was No cart service - there was a girl there but she ignored us.

Very tricky course... millions of trees all over the fairways, often leaving no shot to the green from middle of fairway. Tight, tree lined, severely dog-legged holes. Native trees literally swallow the balls and they don't come down which added to the fun element. Blind drives over sea of trees or 5 iron to visible fairway corner, so difficult for long hitters . im a 7 handicap and struggled to score here but enjoyed just how different and challenging the course was.

Tricky course. Even good shots can be punished by the trees dotted around the fairways. Good fun to play though.

There was a stag on before us so we were unlucky at the time as it was slow but lovely course and tough to score with the trees as when you hit them the ball just drops underneath

A fabulous golf course. In beautiful condition with a variety of treelined holes. The canopy style of the trees almost made it unique and avoiding the trees was the key to playing this course well. We really enjoyed this course.

From arrival to departure The Old Course Dom Pedro delivered on all fronts. Wonderful welcome, fantastic lunch and hosted impeccable by the warm staff. Course came with a big reputation and from hole 1 to 18 it thrilled. Our group finished late evening and one of the staff members stayed behind to serve us drinks before we left in taxis, again a wonderful touch by the golf course. I would recommend this experience to any golfer visiting Portugal and I will be returning in the future. A wonderful golf course that must be promoted.

If you only play one course this is a must

Bus transfer never arrive to take us to the old course.

Living on past reputation pathways could be doing with some remedial works, although course itself in good condition.

A favorite with most of our group. An excellent layout.

The Old Course delivered on every level. The round moved at the right pace. No long walks from green to tee mean this is right for walking. We did get the last electric trolleys for the day so would recommend pre booking, but for those needing buggies there were plenty. Course was in fantastic condition and it has a great mix of long and short par 4's with risk and reward. Still our favourite course in the area for the golfing experience.

Exceptional condition

Lots of people on course, fairways were poor. We couldn't get on drive range as grass was being cut. Putting greens were fast but didn't replicate the main greens.

Very slow round- ruined the experience. Staff didn’t seem to care. Every hole is tight tree lined. Condition was good. Wouldn’t rush back.

My favourite course in the Vilamoura reason of the Algarve. Very scenic course with some fantastic holes. Unfortunately, they had spread some very fine sand on the greens which made them a little slower than normal. Still a fantastic course and a must for any keen golfer.

Course was in general good condition, pace of play was good, clubhouse and facilites excellent and all well organised.

Great golf course. But very slow

Early tee time meant our 4 ball achieved a 4 hour round. Have played here twice previously and the greens and fairways are good but I think the tee boxes could be improved. The course infrastructure needs some serious investment, particularly the paths, and as it was raining for the whole time it does also need some drainage improvements.

Our group have been coming to vilamoura for the last 12/15 years and have played the old course every time. We always leave the OC to the last day as it’s always been our favourite course in the area to play. I have to say we were extremely disappointed in the condition of the course this year. The greens were very slow, fairways were very poor, lots of bare muddy areas. Generally it was really scruffy

Classic old style course in great condition with great staff. A true pleasure to play and the greens are not as sloped as many newer courses, so a good score is very possible.

It could do with a refurb, it is showing it's age with the problems with roots affecting the buggy paths, and it all felt a bit tired and overplayed

One of the originals with strategicaly placed trees and some tight fairways. Great morning's golf!

We were paired up with another two ball, who were very slow. The martial told the group to speed up so we had to rush, despite being three holes behind the group in front. It would have been far quicker to let us play separately as a two ball. Can't fault the course itself, we enjoyed it a lot.

Beautifully manicured, tough but fair. Our favourite course on the trip. Everyone wants to put it on the rota for the next trip.

We played this course twice on this trip and very much enjoyed the experience both times. A good variety of Par3s,4s and 5s. Typically there are large ‘umbrella pines’ both sides of the fairway waiting to catch your ball - temporarily or occasionally permanently!

The course was good but we were disappointed that we were told buggies would be included by Yourgolftravel when they were not so we ended up paying an additional €150 when we arrived.

Always a great round at the old course!

A heavily tree lined course with umbrella pines which leap out and grab any wayward ball! Course in good condition and good service in the clubhouse. The shuttle service to the Vilamoura courses is rather haphazard. You request the transfer at the hotel reception 90 minutes before your tee time. You get picked up anything from 10 minutes to 35 minutes later. All the other courses provide transfers at agreed times.

This was the standout course of our trip (Millenium, Pinhal & Old Course) beautiful course and a decent challenge for all level of golfers. Some stunning tee shots, well kept fairways and fairly quick greens. Some delay on each tee but nothing too bad. For me definitely the pick of the Dom Pedro courses, would highly recommend.

this is a must to play if you are in the area, it's a proper golf course and we were looked after from the start to finish, the course was in amazing condition, the staff who set us up from the caddies to the starter, all fantastic, the greens were all excellent and true, and a beautiful course to look at as well as play. One of our group had reservations before we played due to the cost, but after the round apologies and said it was the best money he had spent on a golf course.

Very welcoming staff in the pro shop, the buggy area, the first Tee and in the restaurant where we had a lovely meal after our golf.

All good apart from the tee times were not as per our voucher. (1030 was our tee but we were moved to 1050). They also had some double bookings so they were squeezing the tees to accommodate everyone on the morning session.

I found the overhanging trees difficult. You need to hit some approaches high over them, even from the fairway.

Really enjoyed playing this course, some challenges but not too difficult. There had been a lot of rain before we arrived and the fairways were not great, quite muddy and patchy grass. Greens were good.

A real favourite for many years “improves with age “ still one of the top courses in the area

The best greens I’ve ever played on anywhere, and the overall condition of the course was a solid 9/10. It’s a tree lined course but you will always have a recovery shot if offline, a must play course to tick off the list!

Always a challenge but most enjoyable. Not really suitable for the high handicappers or new golfers. Always feels special teeing off on the 1st. We tend to vary our choice of courses each trip but always include The Old Course

there isn't a lot you can say about the Old coarse only that it is a tremendous place to play golf it all starts on the first tee looking from an elevated tee the hole just looks so inviting and then it gets better.

From start to finish the set up was brilliant , fantastic condition from fairways to greens it was 10 out of 10 . Would highly recommend and it was a pleasure to play the course with outstanding scenery .

Probably the second best course in Vilamoura. Every fairway surrounded by trees and quite fast greens. The course was in brilliant condition. Club house food was excellent also.

We love the Old Course. It is a treat to play. The welocoming staff, starters and caddymen were great. Plus when we arrived in from a late tee time the restaurant made us a lovely meal and helped us get our minibus to take us home

the restriction on buggies to keep to the paths defeated the object of hiring a buggy. This was strange given the Victoria course is in far better condition and has no restrictions on buggies. The front 9nr holes need some attention, the back 9nr were much better.

This is the course that is without a shadow of doubt the best course in the Vilamoura area. Everyone i speak to down through the years speak very highly of this gem. it is a superb experience.

Essential that you stay on the fairways, The canopies of the surrounding trees are a big problem , to be avoided at all costs ! Greens faster than we are used to, but the course generally was a delight.

A great course and probably my favourite in the Algarve. Better keep the ball straight off the tee or you could be in big trouble.
