Laguna Vilamoura

Course held out, considering the day before we played it had a lot of rain! Greens run well considering the rain! Staff very welcoming and friendly!

There was a lot of water so many of the holes were tricky but overall I enjoyed playing it.

Brilliant facilities and enjoyed the course lay out , plenty of water to avoid ! greens was superb for December !

Same as Millennium as they are next to each other very helpful friendly staff. Even offered to clean the clubs after the round for a small tip.

Pity they were sanding the fairways for maintenance as there was no fun on the ball making for a long round

As with all the courses we played the etiquette of golfers not repairing pitch marks on the greens was shocking

Not as spectacular as the other courses, very sandy but the ball rolls well, greens were rapid, caught us out many times, worth playing if there but if had to drop a round out of a package, this would be the one to drop

We enjoyed the course and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Great layout some interesting holes

Laguna was in great nick and provided a challenge whilst not being impossible for the weaker players in our group. Some lively looking holes and all 8 of our group enjoyed it. The clubhouse was great and the staff were good. The beer buggy made plenty of appearances during our round so we did not dehydrate! The started was a great guy and set us at ease as we teed off!

A shorter course though thoroughly enjoyable. A few water hazards to contend, we played from the back tees so came in to play more than they would from the forward tees. Condition was good and pace of play was fine. We were a fourball and managed round in 4 hours.

Tough opening course of the Tour. You need to keep the ball straight at all times.

Lost my match to my stepson so not a good day at the office

Good course and layout, long par 4’s off the yellow Tee’s, some lovely par 3’s and fast greens.

Enjoyed the facilities and were made to feel welcome. Only 10 minutes from our hotel in minibus.

The course as the name would indicate has a lot of lakes to attract wayward shots. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and the drinks cart was a regular visitor.Some parts were surprisingly quite damp due to heavy watering. The balls holds the greens very well but the bermuda grass can be difficult to get out off if you stray from the fairway.

Great golf with great company. Course in general very good condition with some challenging holes.

Lovely course overall and pretty challenging due to its length and speed of greens. Whilst the tees were magnificent, it would have been good to have had more green grass on the greens.

First time golfing abroad. Took some time adjusting to hitting the ball out of the rough but very enjoyable round. Bunkers were around a lot which cost you when you hit a good drive straight but then into a bunker. Course management is key on this course.

as I thought the water on this course played a major part in my scoring, but the course is in great condition so a pleasure to play even though I scored more than I wanted

The course is well named 'Laguna' With a group of mixed handicaps, many of us realised, too late, that our ego or machoism needed to take a back seat on this very testing course. A real reality check on your ability to hit straight and understand your flight distance. All very enjoyable though, but, next time for most, a humble strategic approach may be required. Greens were slick, appearance of course was good and water hazards along with testing greens tested all.

We have played Laguna many times and it is always interesting and good challenge. The course was in good condition and the greens nice and fast.

Played this course in really windy conditions which made scoring tough but really enjoyed the variety of holes, some tougher ones with water on the back nine. Greens were really good and fast but as it was very windy made putting difficult.

This course was not in as good condition as millennium. The fairways need work. The course played very slow. Time of round was four hours and 45 minutes.

Challenging but great fun to play with all the water on the course.

Nice course. Some very slow play. Always backed up and waiting to tee off. The group behind would always be waiting to off before we had. Food was ok. It a little bland.

Very tough coarse as we walked it would recommend a buggy.

Far too wet, fairways squelching underfoot and mud being thrown up from trolley. Shoes and trousers caked in mud. Surprised it was open.

Overall nice course with good character. The etiquettes on the course from other golfers could be better!

Greens were the best we played on all week

Really good round went round with a couple who were very friendly. Excellent weather helped. Very enjoyable round. Pulled trolleys as buggies very expensive!

Course is nice and scenic but just wasn't as much fun to play as othes. Difficulty level was very high due to very high number of bunkers and every green is hidden behind and surrounded by bunkers

Great experience

Played long as wasn't in quite as good condition as normal.

We had been spoilt by the Quinta courses before playing this course, not quite as great condition as the Quinta courses but still good. The greens were very small but in good nick.

Unfortunately the course was quite wet due to rain the day beforehand but still an enjoyable experience

Really impressed with the condition

The Laguna course was in good condition and quite challenging, with long distances between some holes so buggies are definitely recommended. However, it was the least picturesque of the courses we played. It's on the same complex as the Millennium course, which we found much nicer. If we were to return, we'd likely opt not to play this one again

We were told when booking that buggies were €50 for the round. Imagine my surprise when they charged us an extortionate price of €60 a round. Going to ask the group for more money each round.

Nice course. Not the most fabulous but a good even challenge. Marshall didn't like the fact I wore golf sandals but was reasonable when I explained the clue was in the name and I wear them all the time in Dubai where it can also be a tad on the warm side.

loads of water, seemed to a bunker on almost every hole,lost 7 balls shot the highest of my 4 rounds of golf but the course was stunning just too tough for me at my current level, but I will get better and be back to better my current score

Good challenge, very open but plenty of water. I preferred the Millennium and Pinhal courses because they were more attractive, being tree-lined.

A fair amount of water on this course and some of the holes will challenge the long drivers but are high risk, high reward if you can pull it off. The greens were a bit slower than the practice greens but if they get up to speed and all the water features are full, the course will be a lot tougher .

The greens were on the slow side and was the only downside of the course. Had we not played the old course the previous day however then we would’ve probably scored the greens a 4 star. Overall a lovely course and would book again.

Course well maintained but good shots can be punished with the way the fairways run into the water. A lot of water in this course.

Tough back 9 but loved all the different types of holes.

Another enjoyable golf course

The course was in really nice condition. Fairways were like carpets and greens reasonably quick and true. But it was very slow. Club house is nice, drinks were not too bad. The clubhouse is the same place for the millennium course. We thought this was the easiest course of our four, in best condition, but one we don't need to play again.

The course was way too busy you should never have a five hour round in a buggy

Very slow round and appeared over booked again. Fairways and greens were ok, paths and other areas look tatty.

course is ok the greens are tough and a lot of the greens are protected by front bunkers which makes for a challenging round

Great clubhouse, bar etc. The staff were excellent, tee off time spot on. The course was lovely and we were kept informed about parties in front and behind us. We were not pressured in any way at all. Great experience.

You need course management

First course out of the four we played. Back to backn4 balls(which you have to expect with resort golf) slow due to a buggy breakdown in front(it happens. A little patchy in place but greens spot on

Nice day 1 course, easiest of the 3 we played. Good facilities as well.

Aware that Laguna is comparative to Millenium but found the fairways not quite as good and course condition generally a bit tatty , however the use of the water hazards is well done and comes into play on some holes, need to see the course planner to be aware, it makes you think about club selection. Would recommend playing for the experience as well for parkland club members. Staff and facilities excellent.👍

Great course, very challenging

The hint is in the name, there's a lot of water so take extra balls if you struggle to keep it on the fairway!

Great course. Open fairways and not too much water. Lads really enjoyed the round. Bar and food very good. Watch out if staying on an on resort hotel. Last shuttle transfers are 6.30pm back to hotel. Our round finished at 6.15pm so could not have a beer at the club!

far to slow

When you arrive and find out the price of the buggies 55 euros x 6 total rip off it is an annoying start.

First time at Laguna. The course was quite nice and the facilities looked really nice but never got a chance to experience the clubhouse etc due to the time it took as to get round. 0ver 5 hour round no Marshall on course to speed it up. A four ball of quite elderly people walking with no one in front of them for at least 3 holes. I have never played a hole where we had 8 buggies waiting. 4 buggies behind us gave up on the 16th. Shame really. I went back on the Monday to have a look at a villa I am staying at in August on the course and popped in to get a taxi and the Millennium course had an expected round time of 4 hours 55 on the board so they obviously don’t Marshall the courses.

I played it in October 23 and magnificent condition but we were very disappointed with condition of fairways and greens, really poor condition but a lovely course when in good condition. We should receive some money back on this one

Good course. Good value for money. Had no problems with our experience.

Having to pay for range balls was bit disappointing and issues with our tee times, we had 13 and they wanted our groups to move up to leave a 2 ball and have a 2 ball join us. As we were the bigger group it would have been better if the 2 ball was split. Thankfully was resolved before we played.

Really enjoyed the course. The only downside was that the practice green did not reflect the course greens

Great course well kept greens and fairways

A lot of water and we seemed to find it on every occasion. The course was patchy in areas and greens were inconsistent. Probably wouldn’t play this course again.

Played 3 excellent courses, this was disappointing - scruffy fairways and what looked like diseased greens. Old Course, Pinhal, and Millenium (in that order) much better experiences.

The course was in good condition for the time of year. But the greens were not great. They rolled ok but were very dark green and sometimes uphill putts feel like you were putting on Velcro. Disappointing considering the course literally next to it had amazing greens.

Every person we spoke to agreed, this is about the worse course in the area. The greens were shocking . It’s next door to the millennium course which was in very good condition

Good course, challenging with lots of water

A beautiful sunny day and no pressure from behind so what’s not to like. I just think for me it’s the least favourite of all the DM courses - perhaps just to much water making some holes just too difficult for an aging 20 handicapper!!

We have been to Laguna prior and felt approaches to or off green areas around the greens were scrappy in a good few places. The tee boxes we found 50 /50 some were in good condition with some poor, but we get the time of the year as a hard warm summer season will have influenced.

Very slow and never waved through. Do not play as a 2 ball

Only played 14 holes due to severe rain storms. Enjoyed the practice facilities and the course design.

Unfortunately rained so abandoned after 9. Greens a bit of a disappointment Course unplayable after no and refund for buggy and round offered

The course was ok but play was very slow

This was the hardest of the three courses we played. As the name suggests, there’s a few water obstacles to navigate and a truckload of balls to find if you have scuba gear! Definitely a challenging course but enjoyable none the less! The Laguna and Millennium courses share the same clubhouse which is good for familiarity when returning to play the other.

Golf carts at €60 are a bit expensive.

First time visit to the course and would definitely return

The slowest I’ve ever played! Even with buggies we had to miss the 18th hole as our transport was due. 5 and half hours to play 17 holes is unacceptable. We visit the Algarve every year but wouldn’t return to this one.

As clubhouse is shared and was Ryder Cup weekend , very disappointing that they only had 2 small TV's, and took a while to even get them to change to the correct channel. Otherwise it was fine.

Greens had some form of disease and looked awful,however they played better than they looked. Quite a lot of water in play which made it interesting.

Good course overall - very different from Pinhal and Millennium. Much fewer trees and much more water - Laguna is not just a clever name - but greens very discoloured and bare, although true to putt on.

Great course, shared clubhouse with the Millennium course. Super fast greens! Friendly staff. I’ve said it was hard but I struggled with the water… the rough is hard to play out of. Some interesting holes.

The rough was extremely punishing so for average golfers this meant long rounds as trying to find your ball very difficult.Wou!d not recommend this course unless your a single figure handicap.

Struggled to find the ball if off fairway as grass was long and thick!

Course is a little bit quirky, as it is not all in front of you. Bermuda rough makes the course hard, as you pretty much need to wedge out and take your medicine. More of a problem is the way the Bermuda rough slows the round down, as the ball disappears. The shuttle bus back to the hotel is a bit of a joke, in that you are always told it will be 10 mins, but we waited close to 90 mins.

Only 9 holes open fairways were very poor course should not have been open put a downer on our holiday

This course is tricky with lots of water, buggy bar came round quite often.

All was great good greens great weather would have liked later tee times.

One of the nicest Golf courses in Vilamoura in my opinion. On the day it was in good condition with plenty of water hazards as it name implies. I would suggest you take enough golf balls as when I played it in breezy conditions it can be a very good test of your game. A lovely course which I would certainly recommend playing.

The most difficult of all the courses we played. A challenging course with water hazards and greenside bunkers to test the skill of any golfer. Well worth the visit but the majority of the group [8 golfers] found it difficult and returned low scores.

Very good course with several outstanding holes.

We asked Golf Travel not to book difficult courses and they got it spot on. We hired trolleys and found this was ideal as some tees were quite a distance from the greens. We are both high handicap golfers and managed to guid our way around this course relatively easy, a nice one to start with

As the name suggests there are a lot of lakes on the Laguna course - some far too wide for my capabilities. We played with a young man who could hit fair distances but even he lost balls in the lakes on a few occasions. I am sure this is an excellent course for the very good players as is quite challenging but for me it was a Lake too far!!

Slightly more difficult than the Millennium due to the water features. A good test of golf where course management will pay dividends.

Lots of water in play on this course. If you can't drive 180m+ you will have difficulty on some of the holes. Couldn't fault the greens and the fairways.

Course was ok for most golfers although the holes with water hazards were quite difficult and my wife found it quite a difficult course as she has a high handicap

A lot of water and bunkers on this course make it a difficult course to score on. It is however in great condition and is probably my favourite of the three.

As comments for Millenium

Fantastic course and quite difficult to play with fast greens and loads of water (hence the name of the course). Would play it again in a heartbeat!!!

A bit more forgiving for the higher handicap golfer.

We haven’t played Laguna for a number of years and I was pleasantly surprised. Lots of water and deep bunkers which makes it difficult for the higher handicap players. Averaged just 25 points.

Nice course. not the best we played by a long way. A lot of water which makes the course more interesting and fun.

Overall pretty good, though all our group found the greens too difficult for the averag3 golfer. One thing that wasn’t made clear by the staff at the course was that the shuttle service back to our hotel finished at 6.30, which was before we’d finished playing, after a bit of heated discussion they managed to resolve it.

For our group we found the course to be an enjoyable experience even though water was oe of the main obstacle. Suitable to all golfers irrespective of handicaps.

Water water water you have to plot your way around most holes but also allows you to drive those fairways Greens were lush and a little slow but very good for time of year.

Great golf but disdappointed that our 3 T itimes for 10 people resulted in 2 add on players ...which kinda of ruined our usual game format

Staff were officious and rude. So preoccupied with pace of play. They try to get too many players on the course. It spoilt our experience. We would think twice about returning.

Nice course, however had to start on the 10th tee and then had to wait 25 mins before we could tee off on the 1st tee, very slow pace of play

Think this course is tough for Lady Golfers.

The greens were very slow. The tees and fairways were very long like hitting out of the semi rough all the time. Not value for money

The name say's a lot, plenty of water to avoid , a bad shot is punished but it keeps you concentrating on distance control.
