Quinta do Lago North Course

Very enjoyable course, good condition. Not the greatest we’ve played but decent.

Nice round

It is a very good course, but was suffering with the recent heavy rains and cool weather. Some fairways were almost unplayable on the first 6 holes. Better on the middle segment. Not VFM when we played it.

Unfortunately our round was abandoned after 5 holes due to thunder and lightning. We were however given a voucher for a free round. Very impressed with the set up and course.

The one we least liked, in amazing condition still, and comparing it to two other fantastic course. However the round was very slow (5 hours), a long way between holes, a lot of road noise and crossing of roads.

Could do with a bit of TLC, greens a bit patchy, quite a bit of GUR.

Overall experience very enjoyable. Staff very friendly. Lovely food in clubhouse. Driving range excellent. Practice green beside 1st tee was poor and not in great condition. Overall we were a bit disappointed in the greens (a bit slow). The round was also slow (taking us over 5 hours and waiting on every shot). This is probably down to timesheet putting out 4 balls every 8 minutes (we didn’t mind though as the weather was glorious). A beautiful golf course and would definitely play it again.

Very enjoyable round. Different to VDL South. Easier to hit fairways but the greens are more difficult. Lots of false fronts and steep run offs. Definitely recommend playing here.

A little bit rough round the edges compared with the other two courses. Still a nice place to play with some very good holes.

Favourite of the three (obviously subjective). Good fun. Did feel like waiting on every tee with number of people on the course.

There were no Marshall speeding up play. It took 2 hours to play 10 holes and a further 3 1/2 for the remaining 7. Clearly golfers without the capability to play the course were allowed to on

Fantastic courses at Quinta do Lago. Tricky but forgiving if you stray off the fairway. Quite long holes so not ideal for a beginner. Buggy prices are always an annoyance (60/50 Euros). Fabulous courses to play, though.

Good fair test, superb condition, excellent facilities. North not as premium as south (but that’s the “line up”). Got better later in to the front 9 and in to the back 9

We played this twice and the course is challenging but suitable for all. A buggy is a must and €60 each. The play was too fast and the group behind us were relentless and this was annoying albeit we were held up by the group in front of us. This made it difficult to relax and when we played it the next day it made all the difference. The facilities are excellent throughout and really world class. The course was stunning and I would not hesitate to play there again.

Great course. Tree line golf course with cross winds, and tight out of bounds. Difficult.

The Quinta Do Lago clubhouse is the best anywhere, the North course comes out in 3rd position out of the 3, but still an excellent course

Great course in good condition. That was our second visit and would go back again. The Quinta experience is always first class.

They love a false front to a green here obviously! So prepare to watch your ball come back to your feet a few times. Very good layout, not long but greens are tricky. Too many old pitch marks in greens given we were only second group to tee off. Bunkers in great condition.

Course was in excellent condition. Couldnt fault the experience

as it was our first round of golf the greens took some getting used to. Pretty fast and punishing if you got in the wrong place. A good test of golf.

The course was immaculate. The fairways tight and the greens super fast. The first lures you into a false sense of security, as it’s not long and quite easy to reach in two, however, the greens on the course were much faster than the practice green. We would definitely play here again.

Tough for a couple of the higher handicappers

Well organised on our arrival. Clubhouse and pro-shop good. Didn’t have time to eat after the round, but bar a terrace area excellent. A bit of construction / improvements going on at the driving range area. The whole setup has a little more of a corporate feel rather than a golf club feel. But that wouldn’t stop us returning.

Average to difficult course but a wonderful layout and certainly in the top 5 courses in the Algarve (if not the best) - very good condition despite shipping a lot of water. Hard to be critical.

The course was in great condition for the time of year. Some of the distances between holes are very long and there are several road crossings. Take a buggy!

As south, perfect in beautiful weather

QDL North is a Loooooong walk. Course is gorgeous and tough and a real challenge - But take a buggie as you have extensive walks between some holes as the course is in 3-4 parts split by the residences.

Very well used course with societies. Was very slow to start with with 3 waiting on early par 3.

Very disappointing that they are pushing too many players through the course without maintaing a maximum 28 handicap ... result way too slow a round!!

A slow round at 5 hours and lots of waiting on the tee box that doesn’t help your rhythm of play. Very difficult greens and a good challenge.

The North Course never disappoints, as good as ever.

I have played here many times and love it. This is a great course.

A beautiful golf course and interesting challenges throughout the round. The greens are very grainy so present the real challenge. A joy to play and to ogle at the amazing villas surrounding the course.

Extremely dissatisfying. Tee times for 6 had not been booked Arrived at course and had to be “slotted in” One of our members asked for a pull trolley She was given An electric trolley with disabled battery Totally unacceptable,

We should have been a four ball but the other two never showed up so we went out as a two. The course was full of 4 balls so our round was sooo slow, ruined the game really, shame

Lovely course,too many people on it which made it slow,also needed more tlc compared to Laranjal. Will play again though.

Although my golf was very average on the day. Fully enjoyed the course and the facilities. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

I'd say it was better than Laranjal, nicer holes, more picturesque, nice clubhouse/bar/restaurant/shop etc etc. Would defo play again

Nice course - needed to get used to the Bermuda grass. I play off 2 and only scored 30 points. Didn’t need driver off a lot of holes as I ran off into the heavy bark. A great experience

The greens were very very quick and very tough to read, To hard for average golfer with pin placement on the day. the rest of the course is very enjoyable, but greens killed most of our group.

Great course and in excellent condition, but slow @ five and a quarter hours. Doesn't help when the 2nd hole is a par 3. Greens are tricky and difficult to hold unless you know where to place it.

Good course - very good fun

Once again, you should never have a five hour round when driving buggies. It was too busy and there was no marshals to counter slow play.

Tee times too close together so 5 hour round. Marshalls not doing anything about it. A round takes too long and therefore spoils the experience. Greens were in great condition but why are pins put in such hard places. Most on slopes so made putting extremely difficult. For non competition play this is unnecessary and probably leads to slower rounds

My least favourite Quinta course. The pin positions were far to hard and meant some holes you couldn’t even stop the ball near the pin, was also quite scruffy in places compared to south and Laranjal

Signing in, getting buggy and first tee experience very good. Some fairways a bit scruffy.

Another great experience at Quinta North. Great reception great facilities and a great course.

Excellent course in excellent condition

Did not live up to the hype ! Although its a pretty course, it has been neglected, particularly around the greens. Sadly I think the focus here has been to make as much money as possible by piling people onto the course but little of it seems to be finding its way into maintenance. Dissapointed

Only negative was having to pay for range balls. Course was excellent, greens were amazing. Staff were great and we all had a brilliant time. Would recommend.

2nd choice on the tour

Enjoyable course to play - a few areas of GUR and some of the greens were patchy and not the best condition. Obviously they are currently working on it so I guess work has to be done some time.

Overall disappointing - we followed a pro-am with a 20 minute gap at the start. We caught them on the 3rd hole and our round (in buggies) was 5 hours 40 minutes. Truly horrendous. Didn’t see a marshall. Buggies had to be kept on path. Not a good experience and I dont think I will return there.

A great course, but not as good as the other two of the three Quinta courses. Not quite as scenic and a lot of road crossings and long distances between holes.

Disappointed that buggies had to keep to cart paths but staff supplied electric trollies for us. There were some wet areas on the course especially around the tees so it was understandable.It's a long walk, especially from some greens to the next tee. Fairways narrow and challenging but in excellent condition as we're the greens. The rough was punishingly long. A real test of golf.

Great layout but we had to keep the buggies to the path due to the recent weather so the round took a bit longer than expected. Overall course condition was good but the greens had a fair few pitch marks but still rolled at a good speed.

Of the 3 courses I found these greens the hardest of them all. It’s still a great course and one that grabs your attention right from the start. Some of the flag positions were ridiculous - comp level.

A long course but high quality. Quite a lot of travel from green to tee so you do need a buggy. Challenging greens but fairways and bunkers all in top condition. Excellent facilities at the club house.

Had to walk off after 9 holes as it had taken 3 hours. Seems they will let anyone on the north course as several groups in front looked like they were having their first round ever. Awful.

Great set up and a solid course overall . Personally I thought the layout was a little bland but most of the golfers in my squad said it was their favourite . The design was better on the back 9 but the overall condition was fabulous . I would like to play the south too .

A smaller version of the South but the upturned saucer greens make the approach shots demanding and the green fringes were very 'sticky'to play through. The two courses complement each other and visitors should play both.

Bearing in mind the money that was spent on the course I thought the course was ok but not as good as the other two. Visually this was not helped but the fact that all the t boxes had recently been sanded. Great course non the less.

Greens very very slow ,transfer back to hotel did not turn up so group had to make their own way back via Uber with two additional costs of 22 Euros per car

Tee time was really early played as a two ball and shot round in under 4 hours. Pins were in some interesting places when we played it which made it quite hard

Personally preferred the South course. If you want to practice your putting use the green adjacent to the South course as there are no facilities at the North.

Brilliant

First time we had played this course. It was a much better experience than we had been expecting. Although it is more of a collection of holes with some long trips from green to tee (a buggy is essential) the holes themselves are very good. The condition of the course is excellent, what you would expect at Quinta Do Lago. The par three second had a bit of a queue on it but after that the round flowed smoothly. It wasn't as hemmed in by houses as we feared with only a couple of holes affected as it meanders through the QDL estate. It is worth playing but afterwards we rated it as a good reserve if one of the stronger courses isn't available

Pace of round was reasonable, greens were good, its an interesting and varied course.

overall very good however charging €50 for a golf cart is a bit excessive

Another fantastic course in great condition and greens were quick but very true. If playing this course you definitely need a buggy as there is a long walk between holes and you do need to watch for traffic as you cross a busy road several times. Great course and great facilities

Whilst not as good a course as the South, it was also in very good condition. It is somewhat lacking in variety (which holes do you remember 24 hours later?) and overpriced.

A very tough course for bogey (and 12 hcap) players. Bunkers everywhere with fairways contoured to ensnare every shot into a bunker. Greens were lightning fast, rather like putting down your car windscreen. Immaculately maintained.

Greens very tricky, undulating and incredibly fast on occasions and difficult to hit and hold. Not difficult from the yellows as the course is not too long

One of my favourite courses in the Algarve, apart from greens having just been tined, course was immaculate. Clubhouse and facilities couldn’t be better.

Over 5 hour round, but on holiday so enjoy the views.

Course and greens in great condition. Green run off areas are very penal for even good smarter golfers. A difficult test but enjoyable. Very expensive and not sure it’s worth the extra money compared to other courses in the area.

Beautiful course. Very well maintained. All the group loved this course. Top drawer.

Enjoyable first round

We had two buses organised with the Course, only one turned. The second one never did. The driver had to drop our first group and then drive track to Vilamoura to pick us. This resulted in us arriving just before our tee times and having no time for lunch or drinks. Clubhouse was inadequately staffed. Course was in good condition with greens quick and smooth.

All good in the main, great resort. Hoever it was extremely hot (38 degrees) and they decided not to include the ice boxes on the buggies due to covid.. which doesnt make sense to me. Other than that it was very good

Waiting on every shot again. It spoilt the experience and I would avoid the Quinta courses if you don’t like very slow golf. Tee times were 8 mins apart for four balls which is a little tight but I suppose they are keen to get as many people out on the course as they can. Be warned

New club house under construction so temporary facilities were basic. Lovely course but there are some long walks between holes

A disappointment compared to the South and Larangal courses. The first five and last four holes are interesting, but the intermediate ones are dull, ugly, and separated by long walks through unattractive areas. You have to play the North as part of any package, but I'd avoid it if you can. Not a bad course, but well below the standards of the other two.

Tough opening day but a great course nonetheless.

Didn’t like the perimeter grass around edge of greens...some soggy wet patches with tough grass to chip through! Otherwise great course to play, with v tough back 9 if into wind!

This was by far the best course we played another notch up fron Vale do Lobo. Greens again were quick and difficult as you expect in Portugal but condition of the fairways was superb.

Was looking forward to this course but found fairway conditions quite poor with the course over played, greens had been micro tined and slow compared to Laranjal. Back 9 more challenging and interesting. There are quite a few hikes between tees as it's definitely constructed for buggies. Wish we had opted for the south course now for the views .

Hadn't played here for a long time but will be back next year. It was a great experience from the time we arrived to when we left.

After playing the south course the north course took 5 hours and 10 minutes. After playing the 1st went to the par 3 2nd and found 3 groups on that hole. 4 balls going out every 8 minutes. The entire round had 3 groups on every hole. This affected the rating and would give it thought before booking here.
