Hotel was okay, but rooms were very basic with no kettle and room aircon was leaking leaving water over the floor, took two days for this to be addressed. On arrival one of our group were allocated a room with guests already occupying the room, lots of confusion until the group were eventually allocated a suitable room.

The Ampalius is in a great location for access to the Marina, situated just behind the Tivoli. Staff are friendly, efficent and helpful. The facitlies are great, and the rooms immacultalely clean. The restaurant and bar are great. If we were being picky, we would say slightly more choice on the hot menu at breakfast. But then we have been going there for the past 3 years on the spin so we are probably craving some variation.

Very pleasant stay, the staff were excellent and excelled during the power outage, working hard to provide refreshments whilst the vast majority of the area was incomplete darkness. Would be very happy to return.

The hotel was clean and modern and on the beach and walking distance to the marina. The facilities were good. We had breakfast included, which had all the usual bits and pieces. Overall I would say that it was on par with Don Pedro, which we stayed in a couple of years ago.

Visited this hotel in 2024 and the switch to getting Sea View Rooms with balcony was a great decision. These rooms were bigger and better than last year's. We did have problems with the lifts but they were dealt with very quickly. The reception and breakfast staff were very helpful but we had one occasion where one of the bar staff moaned because we ordered a latte coffee which he got for us and then another member of the group arrived at the bar and we ordered another which he moaned about and asked why didn't we order two at the same time. The food was good but their version of bacon at breakfast was not as nice as the bacon we have in the UK so that is the only change I would make there. The gentleman in the golf booking room was always very helpful and also lent my brother a driver as his was damaged on the flight over. The cafe attached to the hotel is good but could do with offering portions of chips on the menu which would be good. A few people asked about chips with a lunch snack. All in all a very enjoyable stay.

Not good. Regularly long queues at reception for coach parties checking in and often not enough receptionists. Originally, on discussing with YGT hotel options around the marina (where we have often stayed) we decided to stay in this hotel as it was on the beach. We were told by YGT that the sea view was a premium but as we wanted the views out over the beach and ocean we were happy to pay more. We checked in and found our rooms were around the back of the hotel overlooking a childrens play area and a deteriorating old building next door. On complaining to reception they were a bit off and unhelpful and claimed they only booked the rooms YGT asked for. It then transpired that the rooms at the front which we had been expecting were "superior sea view" and were more expensive. These were never mentioned to us by YGT. If the differentiation had been provided by YGT we would have booked them and paid the extra. We reported this to YGT who spoke to the hotel and then realised your error. However, the only solution offered was that the hotel will make sure the others checking in later would get the best rooms but in our category !!! They actually then checked one two ball into MY ROOM ! I had left the safe open by mistake so it was a good job they messed up with a member of our group rather than anyone else! We also had problems with checking in and this is a recurring issue with YGT bookings. We had three rooms for four nights and three rooms for three nights. The YGT app cannot cope with that and listed three rooms for one night and then all six rooms for three nights. I had called this out to YGT when we booked but nothing was done and as we suspected the people arriving on the first night were told they had to check out the next morning and check in again, hopefully to the same room. This is the third time this has happened with YGT bookings. Overall, the rooms were more basic than the marina hotels, the restaurant was always overflowing and Queues most of the time. First disappointing experience in many years of booking with YGT and we didnt really feel there was any empathy or recognition of the rooms issue when we shared with YGT agents.

4 of us single elderly Ladies shared the senior suite. It had a tien room, a double room and a sofa bed. The latter was reasonably comfortable. It would have been better for us if the. second bedroom had had twin beds too. We were there on a B&B basis Very good breakfasts. We ate out for lunch and dinner. ......7th visit says it all!

The hotel was very good but not great. Staff great and the breakfast area/food was okay and sufficient. The room was big enough but could have done with a bit more storage space, with going a golf trip and hangers plus no tea/coffee facilities. Also above our room there must have been some kind of generator/major air conditioning unit as it was loud for most of the night if not all. Sounded like a helicopter waiting to take off. The hotel is well situated for the golf courses and minutes walk from the marina with plenty of bars and eating establishments.

Perfect location, short walk to marina. Excellent buffet breakfast which opens at 6am, perfect for an early tee time. Bedrooms well appointed but no tea/coffee facilities in room. Only downside was basic mattress and towels. But fresh towels daily and very clean. Staff very helpful. Didn't use swimming or spa facilities but they looked very good.

arrived at hotel to find it in the middle of a building site , had to carry luggage and clubs 150 yards from main road through a muddy car park being used as site entrance , front of hotel boarded off, distance from hotel to building site two meters,no outdoor area to sit and have coffee or smoke ,diggers and dumpers starting work 7.30 , every time you left hotel you had to walk through all the mud on path and car park, twice we had to wait by main road for minibus in the rain,when we originally tried to book our trip we asked for villa gale marina but was told it was under renovation but did not seem to be , this was our forth trip here and everything has been more than fine up until this trip , most disappointed , would like some kind of refund or voucher for next years trip , having said that the rest of the trip was 1st class

Very pleasant and comfortable rooms. Had a balcony facing out towards the tennis courts with part sea view. Really lovely hotel in an ideal location. Could do with some up to date decor to brighten it up, quite dark furnishings on entrance. One gripe, having to pay 17.50 euros per room to have the safe for seven days, this should surely be a standard item? Would definitely return to this hotel as overall we really enjoyed our stay. A bonus having a fridge in the room to keep drinks cold.

Hotel is great. Pity about the shuttle service to from golf courses which is chaotic at best. We took taxis one day out of frustration. Its not a hotel issue in fairness but there's no where else to comment. Shuttle to/from airport was excellent both ways.

The addition of a new pool was most welcomed. it was quieter than the original pool by the pool bar with no piped music. We only breakfasted in the hotel. There was a huge choice of food including lovely fruit and pasteries. The bacon however was not good and the egg station was slow and the eggs often lukewarm.

We arrived at Faro and very quickly found our the man who was to drive us to our hotel, Vila Gale Ampalius.  We asked him if the supermarket was still open, but his English was not too good and 15 minutes later he pulled into a supermarket so that we could do some quick shopping.  What a star!  We checked in and was shown to our rooms on the 6th floor. It was a very large room, facing the sea, even equipped with a kitchen.  Wow, when I pulled back the curtains and stepped on to the balcony, it was beach, sea and blue sky - a simply stunning view and south facing.

We had arranged 5 rounds of golf on the Old Course, Millenium, Pinhal and 2 on Laguna.

The next morning we were picked up no more than 10 minutes after arranging transport to the course.  It was a joy to play all 5 - they were dry, well manicured, and the greens were like lightening.  After sitting in the sun enjoying a drink and talking about the birdies and pars, we were transported back to our hotel.  All so easy.

The hotel staff were very courteous, the breakfast was extremely good and a wide choice to be had.  The location was  good, just a 5 minute walk to the Marina and restaurants.

This is our fourth time we have travelled with Your Golf Travel and I can see nothing to change that.
